2009 TL Upholstery Problem

I have some ripples on the door leather of my 2009 TL. It seems to be ritht where my elbow sits while driving. Any suggestions on how to repair this?

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but I cannot fathom how that would be repairable beyond taking the whole thing apart, and I don't really know how feasible that is. Looks like the material stretched out, and it's no longer adhered to the backboard. Only thing I can even think would fix that would be removing the entire piece of leather and stretching it out over the backboard again. Even then, I'm not sure if that would work since it's not flat anymore. Kind of like when you take a plastic bag and stretch it out, it will never go back to its original shape.

If it's out of warranty take it to a good auto upholstery shop. It should be a quick fix.

Strap an iron to your elbow. Low heat.

Chive on.

There are quite a lot of instructions on the internet, teaching people how to shrink back stretched leathers.

Acura sells new seat covers(skins) so I would assume they have a part number for the leather piece you would need and it could be taken apart and replaced. Ask the dealer.

Thought I was the only person who had this issue. The arm rest on the drivers door and center console cover is doing the same thing. I had center console cover replaced once under warranty. I also have paint coming off plastic of inside door handle due to my knee/leg rubbing on it. Service Mgr could only say it's some chemical reaction from my skin. I do use sunblock on my skin so it may also cause this. Never encountered this before in a vehicle.

^^ I also have a similar ripple on the driver door where my elbow rests. And I too had the paint peel off the door handle where my knee rests. It happened on the way home from a long trip when I had sunblock on. I had the door handle replaced under warranty.

Just noticed a ripple in the rear passenger seat this weekend. Luckily it's in the corner where not many would notice it. At least the door cards aren't coming loose like my buddies old BMW.
