'12 SH-AWD w/Tech Pkg...do doors auto lock??

Can't figure out how to get the doors to automatically lock when we leave the vehicle. Can push the door handle buttons to lock, but would prefer the doors lock automatically after xx seconds, when key fob is out of range, or something similar.

Is there a setting that I haven't found??

Thanks, Bob

Car doesn't have this feature.

It does have a setting to relock itself if you unlock and don't open the door for xx seconds.

i believe there is no feature like that..

but my car seems to lock by itself when i leave in in the drive way overnight.

but your best bet is to just touch the door handle when you want to lock the car..

Well that is disappointing...our '05 Corvette had that feature and it wasn't anything special. I would have thought Acura would have incorporated it by 7 years later.

Very disappointing...hell I'd rather hit the lock inside the door than have to get into position to touch the door handle from outside...sheesh.

Thanks for the answers.

My RX8 has that feature and you never have to worry about forgetting to the doors... it is quite a good feature. I wonder why Acura didn't include this feature.

Yeah I guess it would be a nice feature,
But to push the door lock button inside or outside on the door, or on the fob isn't much work.

Oh I agree LawnPro that it isn't much work to manually lock the doors, but that is not the point. I bought what I thought was the top of the line Acura...paid a shitgob of $$$ for it, and EXPECTED it to be a standard item.

You make a good point - these are very expensive cars.
There have been other threads asking why doesn't Acura put the heated steering wheel into the TL, why no folding rear seat option??
Maybe because the TL is more sport/luxury - as opposed to pure luxury - lexus, Mercedes Benz, ect.
Hard to say.

The Corvette was sport...and it had it.

Acura, for one reason or another, has chosen to use a button on the door latch instead of an auto lock. Seems cost driven to me.

Or perhaps like a lot things Acura/Honda does, they researched it and asked focus groups. I, for one, would not want my car to lock every time I walked away and would find it annoying. However, I suppose they could make it programmable like the unlock function is. Then they could satisfy everyone.

It's configurable on the vette. It really is a nice feature and just like the TL you can't lock your key in the car.

my guess is if you unlock the door but didn't actually open anything (door/trunk/hood) then it will lock up again in some seconds. I am not sure if it's a good idea to have the system lock up itself automatically. I know some American cars do that but none of the others do.

For those who park their cars inside their secured house garages, they may not want their car doors to auto lock behind them at all.

Of course not all want the same thing...so make the auto-lock feature programmable so that if you want it you can turn it on or vice versa. But make it available...which is not the case here. I expected it to be a standard feature, and am disappointed the learn that is is not.

Unfortunately, Honda/Acura have never ever offered this auto-lock feature on any of it's automotive products.

Agreed. I have trouble seeing this as an issue. To each his own, I suppose.

All of our cars have this. Just put it in park,go to keyless memory settings hit change settings, then scroll down to door/window setup hit select. Next scroll down to security relock timer and hit select.you can choose 90 60 or 30 seconds. If you unlock the car and don't open the door the car will lock itself after xx seconds.

Am curious if BMW / MB / Audi / Lexus / Infiniti have this? I tried searching a bit but couldn't find comparable feature for these.

That's the closest he can get to parking and leaving the car locked without pushing any buttons.

I push the lock button twice on the fob for the TSX in order to lock the doors and sound the horn. That's twice as many pushes as you. I don't know how I make it through each day.

Optional programmable feature would be nice, of course. But I agree with the above mentioned... it's not really a priority.

The auto lock has been a feature for years. Set it up with your remote in the MID.

No, no, no. That's not what the OP wants. This is why it is so crucial to reread and try to comprehend what exactly the OP has wanted, back in post #1.

The OP wants to park the car, get out, shut the door, then wants the doors to lock automatically after xx seconds WITHOUT touching the door handle(s) nor touching the key fob.

Yeah, this would be a nice (programmable) feature...especially for those like myself with OCD that tend to never remember if they locked their doors. Of course, that leads to walking back to the car to make sure. This has also made me notice how short the range is on our remotes (even putting it up to my chin).

I had a Viper alarm on my old car with a two-way remote. It was nice because I could simply look at my remote to see if the alarm was set (i.e. doors locked). Of course it also had the feature to program the doors to auto lock.
