USB Unavailable
hey all, Picked up a RDX aSpec ADV just over a week ago, coming from a lemon of a Q3, which didn't have wireless android, but wired, BUT i could have still connected my USB Flash drive to the car, play music of the drive while using AA for navigation, calls, etc.
So as others here i plugged in my USB expecting the same functionality, must say its annoying. even putting the tracks on the phone is a pain because then you really dont have a native app to play the music through AA without interaction with the phone.
then when the phone is disconnected from AA, navigating the playlist on the USB is a bit clunky, and does not want to play through a folder. was given a number for tech support 888 528 7876 if enough people call we my get some action

Better luck next generation!
Whether it's wired (since '19 RDX) or wireless (since '22 MDX), this infotainment limitation has been a known quantity and a source of frustration for many owners. I doubt you will get much support from Acura since the RDX already had it's mid-cycle refresh and nothing has changed!
Better luck next generation!

1. When using AA for like nav and a call comes in, it goes to the pgone screen, but after the call is ended the screen goes blank
2. There is no way to minimize the search bar to hide recent destination on the map.
Man...I really can believe this is a known issue, and it's software based not hardware, how hard Is it to push a firmware update and open the feature up. Using AA over the past week I came across some other quirks too. Trying to determine if it's AA or Acura based.

Sorry, my friend. Next time, ask the "dumb questions" first before purchasing!

But it's clear they don't give a rats arse behind about this.
Have you checked out the RDX-specific forum yet?
No issues playing audio from a stick w/wireless CarPlay on my X3! Based on my personal experience, BMW's iDrive 7 is possibly the best infotainment in a car in well over 10 years!
Apparently it only took 1.5 years since I wrote the above quote to experience something different.

In my '18 MDX, we had a dual touchscreen setup w/2 USB ports. This easily allowed for playing of music while using CP/AA. Since they got rid of the dual touchscreen setup, that capability is gone in current gen models. Coincidence?
Still no update on this I guess? We have had our 2022 MDX for 2 years now and I'm shocked that this still hasn't been fixed. Actually there have been basically NO updates at all. My old 2016 Ford edge could do AA+USB no problem. Our current 2018 VW Golf can do it, our 2018 Audi Q5 can do it. Apparently BMW iDrive can do it. I actually haven't found another vehicle aside from the MDX that canNOT do it. This infotainment system is the worst I have had in a vehicle in so many ways. I though we would just "get used to it" but in 2 years I still struggle to understand how someone signed off on this design. It's awful. At least the ELS system sounds great. That's the silver lining I guess.

... so I had complained to Acura about this and a few weeks ago someone from their consumer affairs called me back, and i literally ripped into the software. And called out exactly what you stated as this is my exact experience. '22 audi as able to do AA +usb, my RAV that had a pioneer after mkt head unit, same, Buick enclave I had as a rental same. Between Dec 22 and May 23 I drove about 5 different vehicles all with AA +usb. When I explained that to them, after the horse s#*$ bout AA taking total control of the head unit they tried to fees me, along with the fact that you can play XM, fm, or even use the native navigation and listen to streaming on AA they just said they will pass on the info to thier engineers.
they dropped the ball on the software, but not incentivized to fix it .... no ROI.

just popping in here to give some updates:
1. the blank screen still continues to be an issue after receiving a phone call
2. the carat to minimize the recent search is still not accessible
3. still unable to play usb and us AA simultaneously
Its worth noting - wife picked up a new Lexus RX last week all of the above mentioned issues are non-existent ! sigh!
