Wireless Android Auto

Saw this article yesterday mentioning that 'Any smartphone with Android 11.0″ can use Android Auto wirelessly"
https://9to5google.com/2020/08/19/an...wireless-auto/

Wonder if our audio system would be even capable of this. It mentions, "The only major restriction is that your phone must be able to connect to 5GHz WiFi networks."

I would assume our vehicle must have 5GHz WiFi in order to project.

Does anyone know if our system has the capabilities for wireless Android Auto assuming the system is upgraded from Acura side at some point in the future?

Only Acura people know the answer.

Personally, I don't see wireless AA a must-have on our cars, because I heard it is a battery drainer so on longer trip you need to charge the phone anyway. The feature seems better suited for cars with wireless charging IMHO.

You can buy $20 wireless charger pad...I would love wireless AA because than I would use the data USB for my 5.1 music HD.

Maybe in a future update it could be possible. The RDX does have a wireless hotspot onboard but it's exclusive to ATT. It's basically a wireless router....your phone should be able to connect to it and the infotainment system. Maybe one day....new Android 11 brings wireless Android to all phones. So it would just be a matter of manufacturers allowing it in their car, using built in hotspot tech. A lot of cars have built-in hotspots now.
