New MDX Worth Buying

Hi All,

I've owned Hondas for the past 20 years. They have left me feeling uncomfortable after my sister's last 2020 Pilot and Infotainment issue with crackling/popping, Waze app volume going to 100% and random reboots. While she has settled with Honda so she can move on, I don't know why she would even consider the MDX. Is this issue with the MOST connectors an issue with the new MDX? Any other known issues? I know that the model just released but any help would be appreciated. Are they using the same radio head unit and connectors?

Thanks

Very hard question to answer because everyone has different needs, wants, driving environments, driving habits, and budget for a vehicle. I would have her test drive as many vehicle in her price range in domestic, European, and Asian flavors to see and feel the pros/cons of each. She might find a Jag F-Pace, Audi Q5, MDX Aspec, or Genesis GV70 checks all the boxes for her.

I have been a Honda guy for quite a few years, 4 so far. Problems arise in all manufactures.. My Ridgeline was a lemon turn in and I drove years with no issues. Just bought a MDX Type S to replace my Pilot. This so far is quite an impressive ride! I would not condemn a manufacture based on somebodies problems.

I have a 22, and absolutely love it coming from a 2016 pilot. No issues. Milage isn’t quite as good but everything else is a major upgrade. I actually prefer the trackpad to the touchscreen.

She went ahead and bought it. She started hearing some popping noise and panicked but I was able to determine it was the plastic wood trim. It went away after I pressed down on it a few times on the front dash and hasn't come back for a few months now. She likes it so far, I can't get used to that trackpad. I wish it wouldn't reset the position each time you let off the trackpad. Oh well need to wait and hopefully they get rid of this or my next car might be a Civic or Corolla.

Captain Chairs and Stow-able Middle Seat

It’s a shame that with the removable middle 2nd row seat, Acura was not able to figure out away to still have proper captain chair armrests when that middle seat is fully removed. Those 2nd row passengers have no where to rest their arms since there is no armrest that can come down and just a gaping hole is present. Same issue with the 2023 Pilot but at least Honda was able to figure out how to stow that removable seat in the new Pilot. Shame the MDX can’t and you just have to throw it in the garage if you wants the pass thru.
