Android Auto

Current Q5 owner looking into getting an MDX for the growing family. I use android auto instead of Audi's interface primarily and will likely do the same with the MDX. How is using the touch pad to navigate Android Auto since the 1:1 interface of the regular acura infotainment system will not be available? Also does information from android auto, primarily navigation info show up on the digital gauges and HUD? The Audi has a great virtual cockpit for the guage cluster but it is rendered useless with android auto.

As a recent MDX A spec owner (got in late Feb), i can tell you that Acura did a fantastic job on the full digital instrument cluster and maybe a lil better than Audi. There are minute details which if you have a keen eye you will see. For e.g. yesterday i didn't notice that car ahead of you is shown on the cluster in a shaded format at a stop. But as the car ahead of you starts to roll it is showing on the screen and fades away gradually. You can select different instrument cluster designs. Album art is reflected on screen when you skip a song, and its high refresh rate cluster with good response time. Please test drive and take your phone. No matter how many reviews you read online its never the same. I am using Carplay so i cant answer for Android. The touch pad is pretty decent a little getting used to but very fast scrolling and selection has no lags whatsoever. I was looking into Q7 but the price for what i was getting and specially i needed physical temperature controls i am glad i went with MDX.

Navigation shows up on the side of the cluster, so Audi has one up their sleeve still. Its not full screen on MDX.

AA navigation shows up in the cluster and on the HUD according to the manual.
(which means you can't run the acura nav and AA nav at the same time, but no biggee)

Anyone know of a good video/demo showing AA in use? there are lots of 'how to set it up' but I'm curious like:
is there pinch to zoom for google maps? can you scroll the map by swiping?
how are inputs done? I assume mostly voice inputs? I think you can write letters on the touchpad?

Any other notes/quirks regarding android auto (and carplay I guess, it's probably similar)

Current issues b/w AA and Waze according to this thread:

https://acurazine.com/forums/4g-mdx-...g-waze-993422/

Not sure if this is Acura specific or AA specific.
