I like going thru the hand wand car washes. It usually cost me just a dollar here in KC to do that. I used to own a Chrysler Sebring convertable, so I could never use the brushless, touchless car wash. So I've always washed my cars by hand with the wand car wash. I don't always have a chance to pull the car into the driveway and fill up a bucket with soap and wash by hand. I've been using Zaino products after the wash and my TL Type S looks terrific. Ironically, this car was purchased originally by a person in St. Louis who turned it in because he didn't like the paint job. Wow...if he could only see the car now!

You still like going up and down the escalators at the mall too??

Auto washes will scratch your car. Even the brushless, although probably to a lesser extent. The ones that grab your wheel and pull the car through are the worst.

Hand wash if you want your car to look good longer.

You ever notice, even after the automatic washes, you've got dirt/film on the side skirts, the wheels, etc. Then you have to clean that up by hand anyhow. Just do it right the first time.

Yikes!!!! I would hate to see your paint in direct sunlight or under some halogens. Automatic car washes are horrendous for putting swirls in your paint. I wash my cars by hand always. I do not use "hand wash" car washes either. All the dirt from the previous 20 cars is embedded in the wash mits that are now washing your car which again equals Swirls! Then they dry your car off afterward with towels that induce even more swirls

my 06 never once saw the inside of a carwash...and I intend to continue that with my typeS. It takes a little time, but its worth it to know its not getting destroyed. I dont really mind washing my car by hand, its certainly easier than the 2+ hour ordeal it took to wash my truck took at my old job!

Geez.....if you are serious about keeping your car swirl free you will wash by hand. I'd rather have a filthy car before I take it to a swirl making salon.

I've always hand washed and waxed my own cars. They come out better and I know the products I'm using. Any car I've owned I was told never to take to an automatic wash unless I wanted it damaged (wheels, ground effects, spoilers, etc.)
