worn tire problem!!!
after 1 year and 4 months of driving i have totally worn out my stock brigdestone turanza el 42's... rite now i have 33 000 km (im canadian) on the car... and i was wondering if these shitty stock tires are a problem... while i was at the dealership for service, i bumped into another 04 TL owner... who also totally worn out his tires after 6 months of driving at 15 000 km.... WTF is up with these el42's... i kno they're not the best...but why are these rubbers wearing off soo fast?

This is an old problem. My EL42s began hydroplaning after around 9000 miles (nearly 15k km) and I replaced them with the Falken 512s in my signature below. These tires have lasted 20k miles (over 32k km) so far and are still going strong, if a little noisy (thanks Cleveland roads!)

Only got 12.5K miles out of the EL42s. Pilots go on tomorrow. You wonder if Honda/Acura knew how bad these tires were but made a conscious business decision to go with them anyway. Who knows, maybe there is more than meets the eye.
The problems with these tires are well documented (not just here); however, many car companies use them for OEM.
Oddly enough, based on my tire wear, I think I could get 40k miles on mine. With just over 8k miles on them, the fronts were showing a little wear on the outside, so I just rotated them. Based on the wear @ 8k miles, I could probably get 32-40 out of them.
Unfortunately, I'll never know for sure as my 19's arrive in about a month. Only way the OEM's will be back on is if I burn through the tires on the 19's and don't want to pay another $800 for tires.

Guy at dealership who was older part time fellow that owned his own front end shop for 25 years told me that the rubber used on these tires is just too soft for the front end weight and causes them to wear fast. I have no reason to doubt him since have never experienced tire wear on any car I owned like this.
I love my TL but really pisses me off that Acura put such crap on a great car. Through the years I normally trade at about 28-30 k anyway but should I decide to keep TL any longer I will definately go the $$ for real tires. If I trade the dealership will have to put on real tires to make the sale. I will not pull off a lot with these death threats again I guarentee.

the dealership that i go to for maintenance wouldnt give me new tires... so i went back to the dealer that i got my car from and they gave me 50% off b/c the tires were supposed to last for 70 000 km and my car was at 33 000km... so i just took that offer... its better then payin full price... they gave me the michellen mxm4's... the 05 TL stocks... so far the new tires are fine... but they seem to slip alot more than the brigdestones when driving hard... but whats funny is that the mxm4s slip more in the rain, but dont hydroplane, the bridgestones dont slip in the rain, but hydroplaned alot... i dunno if my just contradicting myself... but thats what i've noticed...
