What am I going to do? Acura wrench doesn't fit ronjon lug holes

I have ronjon inspyres with the ronjon lugs installed. I didn't put them on myself, so a tire shop turned the lugs originally.

The other day I needed to take a wheel off. Guess what? The acura supplied wrench won't fit in the inspyre holes, it's too fat.

I immediately went for my socket wrench set and found a size that fit the lug effectively, but the handle is so short that I unfortunately cannot turn the lugs with such a short grip.

Now what am I supposed to do? Get a "thinner" lug wrench? I'm not even sure how to check that in the store.. I guess I can try to eyeball it... but any ideas?

grab a hollow pipe and use it as an extension on the shorter socket wrench. should come right out.

a wild guess is 19mm, that seems to be a standard size. i keep a torque wrench in my trunk w/ a 19mm socket. then i keep a flex handle wrench (non ratchet) for when i put the lugs back on. i dont have ronjon wheels, but im in the same boat.

you're saying none of the sockets you are using fits over the lug nuts? or it does fit and you can't loosen them?

The acura lug wrench doesn't even fit in the holes (not sure about the lugs, probably not) and the socket wrench i have fits over the lugs snugly but is too short to crank on it.

Good suggestion about the hollow pipe... unfortuantely I really dont have anything suitable and none of my friends are pipe-wielding types.

I use a 19mm deep craftsman socket by sears with their breaker bar.
my stock lug wrench also did not fit.

Get a length of the (metal) electrical conduit or pipe of the appropriate diameter from a hardware store (or Home Depot, Lowe's, etc.) and use your socket wrench for now.
I carry around a 18"-long, 1" diameter steel tube that was cut from an old kitchen table leg for use as a breaker bar- slips easily over a socket wrench handle and has never failed.

After you get them off, if I were you, I would buy a set of locking lugs. You need a special key to take them off. The key is pretty long, so you don't have to worry about your lug wrench being too fat.

Something like this:

ronjon wheels might be made for out TLs (or claim so), but this is just proof that no matter what it is, if it's aftermarket it's not as compatible (speaking honda)

thats the size of the lugs.. not the lug holes..

you should get aftermarket lug wrench or socket which have thinner wall..

go to sears, buy a 1/2" drive breaker bar and a set of metric DEEP sockets.
These 2 tools alone should be in any "man's" tool-box and should last you for your lifetime.

if you already have a socket that will fit, autozone/advanced has 3/4 inch to 1/2 inch drive adapter. Get that (or the set of 3 adapters) and a breaker bar or torque wrench (what i use) and you will be golden. I may have spent 25 bucks on both.

good luck

If you compare the size of the OEM wheel lug holes, they are enormous. All you need is a torque wrench with a 19mm thin wall socket that is at least 4" long. If your dealer or shop put the wheels on, and used an impact wrench, good luck getting them off without a breaker bar. Not a big deal really, if we made the holes the saem size as the OEM ones, the whole design would suffer. We almost did it, but we had to enlarge the size of the center portion by 15%, making the design fail. BTW, 12 x 1.5mm is the thread measurment, not the socket size.
On a side note, I know exactly how 80 lb feet feels like, thanks to my countless installs on my car with a torque wrench. I have a cross bar with the 4 different socket sizes on it which I grinded the right size down to fit cleanly. makes lug nut turning a real easy no matter how hard the lug nut is on.

look at the socket that fits over the lugs and read the numbers.

Use your foot instead of your hand to turn the short grip socket ratchet. Your leg power will make your arm muscles look like wimps.

I just carried a Torque Wrench with me with the size socket and kept that in the trunk on my last car. It can be used as a breaker bar as well as to tighten them up.

i thought its not advisable to use torque wrenches to open nuts b/c it could throw the calibration off
