No problems, there are people pushing 255/40/17 without issues.

You shouldnt have a problem as the stock 235/45/17 has an Overall Diameter of 25.32 and section width is 9.25; whereas, a 245/40/17 has an Overall Diameter of 24.71 and section width is 9.64.

You still should not have a problem

I had them in 245/40/17 and slammed all the way on teins. They didn't rub at all even with 5 people in the car. Now riding on 255/40's.

From personal experience, the BFG are great if you are aggressive when you are driving your car. They grip extremely well when they warm up and also perform well in rain. However these tires are SUPER LOUD. They howl at all speeds and it gets progressively worse as they wear down. They wear particularly fast, because the compound is very soft. Also causes the car to shake as they wear.

If you're okay with that, then by all means get them, but look into other tires that perform the same way such as the goodyear eagle f1's.

X10!!!

Loud doesn't even begin to describe them. I had them on for 10K miles with a ton of tread left and ate the difference and got a different set of tires. I was broke at the time and still paid my last couple dollars to get them off my car. I tried dynamatting the entire car first, rotations, balancing, different pressures, etc.

Dry and wet grip is nothing short of amazing. If you're looking for a tire just short of an R compound that will give you a decent amount of wear and don't care about noise, they're the tire for you.

About the VSA, as long as all four are the same diameter, you can run anything you want. I suggest getting the 255/40 over the 245/45.

The goodyear eagle f1 gs-d3 to me wore down faster than my kdw's and also made more noise at the limit to me. As far as noise they didn't seem too loud by me. But then again I probably never noticed them over the sounds the car made such as exhaust turbo and what not. I may notice it much more on the tl since it is a much quiter ride.

But honestly the noise issue isn't that important to me and I never experienced shaking/balance problems. In fact again the goodyears were more prone to that for me and goodyears bubble very quickly in the sidewall in the event you hit a pothole.

It is almost impossible to get every single characteristic you want out of a single tire. If you want performance often times it comes at the cost of lower tread life. The closest thing to perfection when it comes to tires in my opinion is michelin ps2's but they are almost twice the price compared to the kdw's in the same size.

You probably had the earlier KDW which weren't bad. The new noisy ones have the "fire" style tread.
