Road noise question
Ok so I rotated my tires (good year eagle gt) I used the std x method front straight to the back and then cross the backs when moved to the front.
The road noise was instantly LOUD. My guess is the tires have not worn very well but if I swap the LF and the RF would it help with the road noise?
I'm sure someone on here has already tried it and I'm a lil lazy so figured I would ask first.
also just guessing i would say the tires have a 1/3 life left and that's strictly a guess.
TIA

Rotation can increase tire noise. The tires "wore in" to the postition they were in. Now thye need to "were in" to the new postion.
IOW - wear was not perfectly uniform and the differences are now heard as road noise.

those tires get really loud as they wear. i had a set of eagle gt's and was VERY disappointed in them. my TL ate thru them in 9k mi and less than a year. suffice it to say i was pissed when i had to get new tires after 10 months. the tread pattern on the eagle gt's as well as the f1's may contribute to the excessive road noise as the tires continue to wear. my brother had both of these (the gts on the wife's g35 and the f1s on his g37xs). he hated them b/c of the road noise. the treadwear was atrocious on the GY eagle gt's (yes, i had an alignment done when they were installed). looks like you'll be in the market for new tires soon. bottomline...yes these tires will get noisy.

Doubtful if swaping sides on the front will change much , it may drop the Db a bit and it could go up.

metal on metal? if you want help you need to be more descriptive. yours doesn't sound like a tire issue...more like wheel bearings esp if only coming from one side. is your noise variable with speed? if it is tires....time for new tires.

You are prolly experiencing the noise fron feathering or cupping on the rear ( now front ) tires ... your rear toe is prolly off some creating this .. and it will create it on the tires now on the back.

bottom line OP...it should lessen once the tires are in their new locations for a couple hundred miles or so...that is, unless it's not severe.
