Hey what's up everyone! So I have the opportunity to snag these wheels for $350 with the tires on them. They are 18x8 5x114.3 +40 wrapped in 225/35R18s. The only issue I know of is that the center bore on these is 73.1 and the TL hub is 64.1. I could just get some aluminum hubcentric rings though and I shouldn't have any issues. My only question is, with those tires at stock height would I have any issues until I'm able to buy thicker tires?

And yes, there are 4. The other one isnt in this picture.

Aside from a slightly rougher ride and speedometer error, you shouldn't experience any other issues.

Lol I'm a wheel newbie... definitely didnt even think about the speedometer. Is that cause the wheels are an inch bigger or cause the tires are smaller?

The correct size tire for those wheels would be 235/40 R18; the 225/35s are too small both in terms of tread width and diameter; ain't no way I'd ever put those on my TL.

I wouldn't run them for long. Theres not much tread anyways. But I'd probably get 245/40R18... that's what I've got on my aspec wheels on my 06 TL. Any benefits to getting 235/40 over 245/40?

The benefit of the 235/40 R18s is they are the correct size for your car; going with 245/40 R18 size tires will induce speedometer and odometer error (you'll be traveling a bit faster and further than indicated).

You're right. Could've sworn when I looked up the Aspec tire size everywhere said 245 and not 235. Well, I haven't had any issues so far and I know Waze isnt the best reference for speedometer but Waze says I'm going the same speed as the speedo on the car. The miles I think is the bigger issue. Well fudge. Anyways, the wheels I were going to buy have been sold so I'm not getting those ones anyways.

I believe it will be negligible. I went with 245/40 on my aspec’s for a littler more width and rim protection.

The math says:
  • 235/45 R17 -- Sidewall Height: 4.1634" -- Diameter: 25.3268" -- Circumference: 79.5664" -- Tire Revs/Mile: 796.32
  • 235/40 R18 -- Sidewall Height: 3.7008" -- Diameter: 25.4016" -- Circumference: 79.8014" -- Tire Revs/Mile: 793.97
  • 245/40 R18 -- Sidewall Height: 3.8583" -- Diameter: 25.7165" -- Circumference: 80.7909" -- Tire Revs/Mile: 784.25

No mention of how the oem tires that came on the car, 235/45r17 were oversized at 25.5 or 25.6 inches in diameter? I remember reading that somewhere on this forum.

Not sure what you're saying, 234/45 R17 tires are by definition within two tenths of an inch in diameter either way of 25.4"; said another way, a new tire at 25.6" is still considered within spec.

I run 255/40/17 on all corners with the stock 17' waffles without issue. I also have a considerate amount of drop
