Just Ordered HT SPEC TYPE 1
I finally decided its time to drop my car. I went ahead and put in my order for HT SPEC Type 1. Kept hearing good reviews on them. To those that are dropped how much of a drop do I need to achieve zero wheel gap? I will be on stock 17's. Should I do a 2 inch drop all around or 2 inches in the front and 1.75 inches in the rear. I have a 10 inch alpine type r in a ported box in the trunk so im thinking 2 inches in the front and 1.75 in the back will be an evenly balanced drop.
Heres how my car looks on stock suspension right now
Here is an old pic without my aspec sideskirts on. I am not worried about scraping the driveway when I go back home but I do scrape on the driveway for my on campus house (just on the front bottom) if i reverse straight out without the tires being at an angle. This is the driveway that I have to go up everyday during school ...I am thinking if I reverse into the driveway at an angle rather than pulling in straight I should clear it fine with a 2 inch drop.
This is how I plan on pulling into the driveway after the drop to avoid any scraping
Also I am thinking about getting the allignment after a month so I allow time for the suspension to settle in. Do you guys suggest I get the allignment right away or wait a month? NJ roads are probably one of the worst in the country but I will have to learn to avoid every pothole lol

haha im not dropped yet...thats all stock height. My coils should be coming in 4-5 days. im just wondering since i will be on stock rims...after i receive my coils by the end of the week should i just start off with a 2 inch drop in order to have zero wheel gap or will 1.75 achieve that

just put it all the way down and adjust from there.
- i bet if you slam it you wont want to raise it anymore because you will love the look so much lol

Is it just me or does the back of the TL sit a little lower than the front at stock height?
Heres my car standing tall and ugly like a monster truck
I think I am going with 2 inches all around
MORE wheel gap lol
My coilovers come in Friday and Im getting them installed Saturday

The wheel gap in the back is smaller than the one in the back. A lot of people have lowered the front more than the back to compensate.
I will Try out 2 all around.. if its not balanced then 1.75 in the back might be better
Did you consider the Tein SS at all? I am debating on these and the HT Spec 2.

ive checked on flat surfaces too same thing it seems the back is lower
thats exactly why i chose coilovers instead of springs. how low are you dropped?

Standard springs are FINE. I currently have the HT Spec Type 1's with standard springs. Cars rides beautifully. IMO, adjustable firmness is not needed.
OP, I will be working on the car a little tonight. I will get some pictures of my car lowered for you. First night it was SLAMMED but raised it back up until I get my wheels on. My buddy with a type S has the same exact set up as I do, I will get some pictures of his car too, because he is a little lower than me.

It'll be sunny tomorrow, so I will snap a few quick ones for ya.
I put my coil overs on last Saturday, was too low, raised it back up on Sunday and it seemed to stay put pretty much exactly where I raised it too...Didn't seem to settle much if at all...

I apologize. I was too busy taken pictures of my buddies 240 with a LS1 in it that I wasn't able to take pictures of my car...

i too have been leaning toward the ht type 1's because of what a lot of you guys said about them, but right now with the free shipping on the tein's and its only $70 more i was thinking about going with them. i called the ht guy rick and he said the tein's don't go as low but might last longer any suggestions?

Yeah man I went to MP Built. Many of you guys probably know him he used to be a member on acurazine by the name of tlaspecteins ( he started the official slammed thread for 3g Tl's. ) I go to him for all my installs this guy even knows how to rebuild engines so if you guys are near jersey hit him up. He used to own a 3g TL so he knows the car in and out.
I drove around for a while to test everything out. First thing about the ride and stiffness....best ride I have ever experienced. Dampening is not needed at all. Marcus from heeltoe definitely did his research before creating the best mix between comfort and handling. I even drove around with 5 ppl in the car to see how it feels and it basically feels like the stock bmw stiffness and is very comfortable. I was expecting a MUCH harsher ride especially over bumps and pot holes in jersey but the coils do a great job absorbing everything and making it comfortable.
I just drove around for awhile and had to raise the front because I was way too low. I took pics even when the front was basically slammed. The car is real dirty Ill post better pics with a real camera after I get a wash
Here is how low I was in the front at first
I raised the front
Here is how the car sits now...I cant make it up the driveway lol

I'm not bashing anything, because it is all opinion after all, but I think big drops like that just look silly. The car looks.....broken to me haha. Glad you got what you wanted though!
