HT-Spec Tuning - Function&Form Type-2 Damper - TL Specific Application
#122
Guys, I don't check the forums every day. I'd love to, but frankly I don't have time to. I do answer emails and phone calls every day though. If you had tried to contact me directly at any point you not only would have gotten a response, you'd be more informed. So...just saying...maybe you guys live in the forums, but the sun does not rise and set here. If you are getting agitated with us, in all fairness, maybe you should hold comment until after you try contacting us for more info.
That being said, being that it is ONE WHOLE DAY after the 19th now I am getting a little follow up today which I will be posting for you. I do fully intend to post updates as they come in. But I am NOT going to post the same thing every day. It is a waste of time and bandwidth.
sac2006TL, I have a few replies for you since you have so much to say here:
Mostly it is communication, testing, and shipping. We communicate with F2, they communicate with their manufacturer in Asia, parts are made and then shipped, then I get them, toss them on a car, and have to drive for a few days before giving feedback. It is a long process. You don't realize that every decent part out there goes through the same process because most of the time the development process is not made public.
You are a prime example of a person who could have tried contacting me directly at any time. And honestly, it was a borderline dickish post and no I was not amped about answering it. Go figure.
If you would rather get the Megans I can't stop you. Actually, I sell those too and would be happy to fill that order as soon as possible. But I feel the product you are going to be going for is not going to be better in the long run. I have not heard universally good things about Megan stuff. That is the same for everything I guess. Point is, if I thought that was going to be the way to go, why would I bother trying to tune a kit for you guys?
That, and filling/shipping orders, helping people who actually bought stuff, answering questions in my email and voicemail...that kinda stuff. I am not ignoring you man. I don't post a lot these days. It doesn't mean I don't want to help you. It means I have a lot of ish going on.

I think F2 lost a customer to Megan.

Mr. Heeltoe,
Thanks for the update and I do want to apologize for being a dick. SORRY for being a prick.
I was just getting frustrated with the long waits and no replies back.
I have been super excited about these and thought they would be ready by August (I've been following your thread since April). But it has taken a long while and that's why I have started to consider other options.
Anyways, thanks for the update.

Ok, here is the latest word.
Parts are on the water now. Within the next week or so, they are expected to land on the dock at which time we plan on updating once again with a more firm date of shipping.
I am not saying anything firm on the supply as I never try to because things always end up friggin late.

Added this copy:
You have a choice of spring grade. The standard Asian springs are suitable for street/luxury drivers who won't notice slight variation in performance, but will remain comfortable and adequate for daily use. The Eibach ERS springs are best for drivers with higher grip and more sporting tendencies. The accuracy of your springs can have a big impact on the predictability of your handling!

Hey Marcus,
I have an A-Spec set right now (you know that), how would this set compare? Also I sort of left on vacation so I'll hit you up when I get back.

NEWS! Kits are expected to ship next week!
The HT-Spec kit is going to have a lot more height flexibility while allowing you to keep the same height as A-Spec or lower it any amount you want. The handling will be able to be tuned in if you go with a Type-2 kit as well.
In general we tuned these kits to satisfy a wide range of people. You might notice a slight increase in firmness with a Type-1 kit, but the goal was to balance the comfort with a bigger improvement in handling.

FANTASTIC!!!!!
But why did you have to give me so many choices?? haha I thought I'd be able to just have you say "Buy this" and I could buy it, now I gotta think about springs, adjustable or not..... damnit haha.

The spring choice is pretty easy. If you drive on the street and are not picky about the performance, get the cheap ones. If you want a little more refinement and control when diving harder then get the Eibachs. You should know if you are a cruiser or a hard driver...

Marcus,
I track my car so I'm looking for something more tuned for the track. I have aspecs now but I'm starting to look at coilovers for next season. Would you still recommend these over the other coilovers you have?

I just took some big on-ramps and off-ramps last night with my car pushed hard. 80-90 mph on long sweepers. With the 255s on my TSX these need to be tuned a bit firmer. I have more firmness adjustment available though so I think that for all but the most serious street performance driver these will be perfect. If you are going to track or push the limit there needs to be some more sophistication.

Mostly, cheaper and lower ride heights with a great ride. Both the other systems might offer a tad more refinement but the HT-Spec is designed for street enthusiasts looking for more height control with a very broad spectrum of needs.
Also the HT-Spec kits are easier to install with pre-assembled upper mounts.
