well rolling tends to flare out the fenders a tad because of the pressure used to roll the inner bead flatter... if you look at the TL's fenders (rear) they tapper in toward the front and rear so the roller when set will tend to push out those areas a little more

shaving/cutting just removes the inner bead part and doesnt push the fenders out one way or another... ill take a pic to show you how it looks

^Please do. Will this result in any structural defect in regards to the fender?

Murph, that'd be awesome if you could. Both the front and rear.

when you were cutting the inner bead did you apply ice to the fenders or something? Someone told me that cutting it with the dremel can cause a lot of heat and it can ruin the paint around the fenders. And what did you put over the bare metal after? Primer or did you just use touch up paint and cover it up so it doesn't corrode?

here you go.... you can see how he just cut off the extra material... leaves fenders looking stock and no structural issues... he even smoothed it out and the inner edge has some material above it so it is not sharp at all and perfectly safe.... the guy who did it said its easy but you just have to have a steady hand one slip of the 6,000rpm angle grinder then opps lol

just another idea for you guys on making the rubbing issues go away

i havent put anything on the cut yet just had it done the other day but im just guna put some clear sealer on it to help prevent any issues.... no he did not put any ice or anything he did it really fast so it didn't build up alot of heat in one area... mind you this guy has done hundreds of cars so im sure he has pretty good experience so it goes fast for him.... literally took him 15 mins each side.

oh I thought you said that you did it yourself so that's why I am asking. If I were to attempt to do this I would use the dremel and I can see how that would build up some heat. I might have to get a fender from a junk yard and practice haha

^ lol no i didnt i actually had no idea it could be done this way but this is what he recommended for the cura because of the tappered fenders he said he could roll it but it will push it out a little and he said if he cut it that the look would be stock no bulges or anything...

If i would have known about doing it like this i could have tried i have a angle grinder just gota keep the hand steady!

a dremel isnt as powerful i dont think you would cut through this metal with a dremel you need a larger angel grinder to do this you can pick up a cheap angle grinder from harbor freight for like $15 and get a metal cutting blade and a metal grinding blade dont drink coffee before you do it so no shakes lol

uhhh Falken 452 235/35/19 fronts are a 215/35/19.... i didnt trim the little tab on the front because it doesnt hit but you could trim that 1" piece easily with the angel grinder

The dremel will fry the paint. I had to cut the hell out of my rear deck to make my sub fit, it was nothing short of a spark shower.

You CAN use a dremel, however it will take a significantly longer period of time to do it. You'll have to cut a few mm at a time using a fiber-reinforced disc, monitor the temp, and back of as needed.

This fucking forum. I think my dremel and I have some work to do this weekend.

hmmm 215's are narrow i have them on my fronts i would think running a 19x8.75 with a +20 in the front would be best with a 215 if you are pretty low.... if not too low then 225's

ok guys just found a shoip that can roll/cut for $50. The guy said depending on the strength of the metal he will roll or cut. My question, do I need to mess with the section of the fender thats already rolled from factory. That is the half in the rear and the little section near the bumper in the front.

^ yes they will need to roll that section more because when before i cut mine that was the section that was rubbing in the rear on mine when i hit bumps... the front i think they only need to roll/cut that front tab

Totally agree.

PERSONALLY...I think it's too thin a tire and the ride quality will be shot to shit. BUT, I have never run on a stretched 215, so this is based solely on the research I have done thus far. UA7 is running 225s and I think it looks perfect.

I have 4 225/40-18s and will be cutting the fenders this weekend...I think if we've come this far, might as well put in the work to get a nice fit with proper drop while minimizing and sacrifice to ride quality.

Oh, and LOVE the Chromium Black, almost makes me rethink the silver I purchased.
