Failed attempt to steal my wheels

Just wanted to stop by and share my recent experience. I own a 06 TL, recently I bought an awesome set of Rohana wheels (rohanawheels.com) pics of my car are on their website. Unfortunatly I don't have a garage I can use all the time. This guys spot it my car, at about 3:45 am they tried to steal my rims and this is how they did it.

First they pulled the front bumper from passenger side to get access to the horn wires ( hey at least they didn't cut them ) but they did brake the bumper.
Then they broke the small window from the back door also from passenger side.
Unlocked the car ( now lights are flashing no horn ) they jumped to the front seat (there was blood trail )
Popped trunk and hood
Removed battery cover and disconnected negative post now car is dead.
They at least worked on my car for 15 to 20 mins looked everywhere for keys for wheel locks. Needless to say they found them and I didn't have them in the obvious place either : (
My brother in law was coming out of the house at that time ( going to work ) they saw him and ran away with they keys (I have two locks on each wheel)
Now I'm waiting for they master key to get shipped and my car has about 1000 worth of damage. Hey at least they didn't take te wheels

Anyway if you have expensive wheels on your ride PLEASE DON'T HAVE THEY KEY IN YOUR CAR and if you have an alarm make sure the speakers are hard to reach. There are also some alarms that come with back up battery in case they get access to the battery. I don't lock my glove compartment because I rather have them take what ever than damage the interior.

For now my car will be hidden at the shop and I'm removing the wheels until I move to a place with a garage I can use all the time : (

I don't even want to imagine what would have happened if I would have seen them myself.

Hope this can help someone take the necessary precautions to avoid getting jacked. But hey if they really want your stuff they'll get it. They can even tow the whole car if they want. Those are pros who own body or mechanic shops and can make the cars disappear in no time.

It really sucks that you can work so hard for something nice and one day it can be gone.

Be safe out there. It can happen to anybody

If it wasn't for my bro my car would have been sitting on blocks.

That would had made me cry like a little girl

Unfortunately, you have to have the key in your car...if you don't you risk being on a roadtrip or something and getting a flat and not being able to do anything about it.

Your story, if anything, proves that when they really want something, people will find a way.

Very sorry to hear this, man. Hope all works out for you!

Chicago IL 2 blocks from Midway Airport.
The city paid for noise proof windows therefore is difficult to hear anything.
Car was parked right in front of my window and I heard nothing.

thats a shame, Good luck with the repairs.

try to disassemble your back door panels and remove the inner cable that way the door can never be opened from the inside, ONLY when the doors are already unlocked, you will be able to use the door handle from outside.

Rims always attract thieves.

Take care, of her and be safe.
