EDFC Note for Installers

I just thought I would post something up for everyone to see if they are planning on installing the EDFC themselves.

Everyone including TEIN(over the phone) said to use the "radio" slot for the switched power source. On my 07 S this did not work as it was a constant power source and the EDFC would not turn off with the ignition.

I used add a fuse and moved it to the top right fuse labeled "ACC" and that was a switched source and worked perfectly.

you could have just tapped into the cigarette lighter white wire and saved yourself 5 bucks on the add-a-circuit and time in you install... 'cause that's a switched source and has a 20 Amp fuse at the fuse box...

Plus when you go into or look at your fuse panel you wouldn't see that hideous add-a-circuit there...

You remind me of how I was when I bought my first Prelude back in the day. I did everything to that car while still rolling on the stockies. Then finally bought some Racing Hart's and was done.

Now I'm going to be on my third set of RH

Btw I like your car a lot. If I had not got such a good deal on this one I would have seriously considered white. Certain white colored cars just look so good.

I had heard -at least for gen2- that you can run the wires from the rear up the center of the car- passenger side of the center console.
remove the passenger seat and dismantle the center console as needed-
then put the control unit in the glovebox, or in the center console where the seat heat buttons are, or hide it inside the center armrest storage box

I hope so because thats the next part of my project~
With any luck- there is a space big enough for an electricians fish tape to go under the carpet and pull the wires without excess destruction of property

the Devil is in the Details...

Maybe it's just me but I'll rather have a clean install (stealth)... then wires everywhere when you open up any panel...

Additionally... those add-a-circuit craps usually widen up the contacts built into the fuse box... that once you remove it... your regular fuses don't re-attach firmly anymore and you'll have to bend the fuse legs in opposite direction in order to get constant contact...

Anyway... to each their own...

Good Luck with your future installs fellas...

wow. not for the weak hearted

took about 4 hours with me and my friend... there was a LOT of wire slack left over, that i had to tuck in the center console... i didnt like that...

i think im gonna take it apart again one day, and cut the wires down and reconnect them.. i mean, i had like 6 feet extra of 4 sets of wires.. all squished under the center storage trays near the shifter..

lol. honestly man, i broke out the camera, took one picture.. batteries died, and i just wanted to get it done... plus, i used some friendly help from azine

basically...

1) remove the rear seat and shelf, ive done it 10+ times, so it was easy for me.. (6) 10mm bolts, and two clips ... DIY here https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=107568

2) remove the center console. https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=130713

then just run the wires as neatly as you can.... obviously, there is a lot of work.. getting it through the firewall up front was a bitch... i choose to put mine in the top, bigger of the two compartments, because it required less drilling/sawing/ customizing. it was a actually breeze to install. once the car was apart... for the other (4) wires (power constant, accesory, illumination, ground) i actually just tapped into my viper 5900SST alarm, because i was using all those wires already , and the alarm is under the steering wheel in the dash, so it just made life a little easier

only picture i snapped before my camera batteries died

That's funny. I thought runing it through the firewall was the easy part as there was a blank plug dead center that I used. Took about 10 minutes total to fish the wires through.

The hard part in my opinion was bundling up all that damn left over cable wire and trying make it neat!!

haha, where did you stick your left over cable? mine is stashed in the center console

i was thinking about opening it up again, cutting the wires, removing ALL the slack, and re-connecting/soldering that wires back up

the fire was a little tough for me, because i have a 4guage audio power wire and my viper 5900 speaker wire going through there already

i actually have to cut the EDFC wire, snake it through, and re-attach it. the plastic plugs wouldnt fit through the grommet, and i didnt feel like drilling a hole through the cars

Yep, the same it's stashed behind the console and part of it zip tied to death in the lower dash.

Wonder if you could take a tiny punch tool or flat head and push the wires out of those connectors? Sometimes they aren't crimped in, just have a tab that holds them in place. That would at least keep you from having to cut the wires to feed them through. I know what you mean about drilling. I was thinking the same thing and then saw that free gromet and was like yeah!
