A comment about Falken ZIEX ZE512s in snow
Over the last week, I've had a total of around 30 inches in my driveway from three separate storms. I bought my Falkens in May, so this was the first time I've really been able to use the tires in snow.
Bottom line: these are not snow tires, but they did exceptionally well. I drove through last winter with brand-new 1st generation EL42 tires. They were competent but I never felt completely confident driving in snow or slush. Then again, they were new at the time. With the Falkens, I felt much more confident. I could make lane changes on a freeway covered with snow without noticable sliding (of course, this is at reasonable speeds--not more than 30-40 mph at the very most). They were clearly a step up from the EL42s. Even with one tire making lots of noise, even with over 14k miles on them, the snow traction is reasonable.
So fear not, Falken owners, you might be able to get away without changing to snow tires. I probably won't change.

I agree with neuronbob...
We got a couple of inches in the NY area earlier this week and didn't have any problems with the Falkens.
They're a good compromise between performance and bad weather handling and are a great value. Almost 5K mi and don't notice a lot more tire noise.

I love my Azenis. And they arent a wet weather tire at all (new style is supposed to be better) but they have been performing very well in these rainstorms were getting in LA right now.
Just gotta be careful going from a stop.

I like the Falkens in the snow, slush, and ice. The car feels stable and I am slowly building confidence in the tires. We have gotten a lot of snow in upstate NY in the last few weeks, so I got to test them in all kinds of conditions.
What I really dislike about the tires, though, are the vibrations. Even after replacing two brand new tires with different ones, the vibrations are still there, very pronounced at 60mph. I also noticed quite a bit of flatspotting that goes aways once the tires warm up. The tires are also more noisy than the stock ones especially on rough surface. The stock tires were more quiet.
Since I consider safety to be more important than smoothness, I still like the tires and I am glad I have them. My next set of tires, however, will be a different brand FOR SURE.

I got the similar experiences... good performance so far over snow... not as much as you've got... but glad to know this tyre could handle great in the snowbank... thanks.

I changed mine over to the Falken's 512's last week just before the snow storm hits Vancouver. So far I am very satisfy with the tires. They grip much better than the EL 42's. I had no problems with the Falkens in the snow. It climbed a hill effortless with 2inches of snow on the ground. I also notice no body roll/or screetching tire while doing a 40mph cornering on dry pavement (before the snow storm). These are very impressive tires and I must say I feel confident on the road now with these tires.
