Best strut to use for an '08 TL
Hey guys so I used to have an 05 tsx with KYB struts thought to be the best, I now have an 2008 TL do they have KYB's for me or if not whats the best strut to go with ? Im looking for something that would give me a smooth ride. The stock struts I have now suck.

Smooth ride huh? so im guessing your suspension is blown? I would get something adjustable..maybe some Koni's . although im not sure they would have them for our TL

KYBs will ride harsher than Konis and Bilsteins. Konis provide better body and suspension control while at the same time being less harsh.
For a great ride and great control, Koni is the way to go and Bilstein if they make them for these cars. KYB is good for the money but there are better out there.

Bilstein makes monotube dampers. This is really the start of the upper echelon of sport dampers. They are not adjustable, but they are customizable if you have the funds to do so. Unfortunately right at 2004 they stopped producing new parts for Acura, so there is nothing they make that fits the TL. The only Honda options for 04 & later is Civic, CRV and S2000.
Koni Sports (yellows), are the next best thing. They are twin-tube design (less fade resistant) but do offer quality rebound adjustment. This can be used to tune ride quality and/or dynamic handling characteristics of the vehicle. Still quite expensive, but probably the best damper out there for the TL.
Tokico Illumina is another decent option in adjustable shocks, but I don't know if they are made for the TL. They are a twin-tube design and the adjustment controls both compression and rebound simultaneously (not really a desirable trait).
Everything else is just an OEM replacment. Probably not as good as the Honda part.

How do the KYB GR2's compare to the stock shock?
I was told by the dealer AND a local mechanic that the stock shocks should last a long long time. Like almost never have to replace until maybe 140-150k miles. Not sure if I believe that or not. I took my car in before the extended warranty ran out and had them go over the car and look at the shocks primarily. They said the shocks were fine and not to worry about them. They did end up replacing the motor mounts which are a known issue with the TL.

How did the Koni's compare?
The Konis are right there but I feel the Bilsteins offered more comfort at the same performance level and the Konis offer better overall performance at a slight cost to comfort.
I see. Thanks.
I'm running Koni's on my Civic, but that car is very low. Probably down almost 3 inches. The shocks do an excellent job of controlling the relatively stiff Ground Control spring rates (400f/250r). The adjustment range is substantial. On soft I found they were much softer than the original shocks. Very bouncy the first time I drove. At full stiff I find they are crazy harsh/jarring. This is cool though because I know I have a lot range for tuning if I ever hit the track or auto-x.
