You might be in trouble w/ a 8.5 width. +45 would b minimum. With some trimming and/or rolling the fenders, it will most likely work. +50 much better.

I think if you go 18x8 with +50 would be best.

if you are getting 8.5s, you better be looking at least 55 offset!!!

if you want, i can give you the mathematical reasoning behind it...

most agree that an 8 inch wide rim with a +50mm offset is like the perfect setup! the amount of rim width that is in front of the hub is small enough that it offers plenty of fender clearance.

to determine that amount of rim width is pretty simple...
8 inches - (half the rim width) - (offset)

so that is 8 - 4 - 1.97 = 2.03 inches [1]

how to determine the new offset on the 8.5" wide rim...
we start with half of the rim width which is 4.25 inches [2]

we must maintain [1]!

so subtracting [1] from [2] gives us the offset...
4.25 - 2.03 = 2.22 inches

knowing 1 inch equals 25.4 mm...
2.22 * 25.4 = 56.4 mm

now the concern is if the wheel/tire will rub along the inside of the wheel well. this i do not know since i have never read/heard of anyone running this width on a fwd car. i *imagine* it would not rub badly, but that is purely speculative.

anyway, that's my logic and i hope you all agree!

That's exactly the wheel size, offset, and tire size I am running. Tim too.
