Wobbling Shift Knob!

My shift knob has gotten to the point where it is almost unbarable. It is so annoying! When I first got the car it was nice and stiff and over then 6 months or so that I have had it, it has become really loose. Does anybody know how to fix this?

I think the first place to go is to the dealers.. Something's probably loose or cracked... Warranty work, definitely.

Yeah, it may be covered under warranty to get them to fix it.

If they make you buy a new one, I've got one that's had less than 18000 miles on it that I switched out when I bought the new razo shift knob.

actually, this gives you perfect reason to buy a new shift knob.

I'm assuming you already tried turning it clockwise all the way?

What happens when you get to the end? does it just keep spinning w/o ever tightening?

EDIT: That's if it's a 6MT ^

If it's an AT, I'm assuming there's a set screw you could easily tighten (may be hidden, but dig around and you'll find it)

There's no set screw in the AT's shift knob.

Have you been tightening the knob? One extra full turn will strip the "plastic" threads inside the knob. Remove knob by turning counter clockwise and look at the threads. Maybe hard to see though as the threads are way in. You can try loctite, but this is somewhat permanent and no guarantee that it will work. Best bet would be to take Thorin78's offer or just buy a new aftermarket knob. Good luck.

Ohhh hold on a second. I'm sorry. I phrased that terribly. Its not the actuall knob it is the entire stick that wobbles. I was wondering if there is any screws underneath the boot if I were to remove it to tighten it.

Are we talking about AT or MT here? I'm assuming MT as you mentioned the boot. Is that correct?
