Hi all,
I need to replace my windshield. Last time I had to do this, I went with All Star Glass and had no problems. The car was new then, and there were no after-market windshields for it. Now, there are. The quote from All Star is $374.
The quote from Safelite is $200. BIG DIFFERENCE!!
What are others' experiences or recommendations?
I'm in the Central Valley of California, if that matters.
I hope to replace it tomorrow, Tues., so if anyone can, please write soon.
Thanks much,
Leslie

I would get the cheaper one but it might not be exactly the same like my mom's landcruiser had a smashed windshield and we went with the cheaper one the factory tint strip on top ended up being a different color. Not to bad but still was different.

Keep in mind that the OEM windsheild for the 3G TL is acoustic glass. Which I believe consists of two thin pieces of glass sandwiched together for sound deadening purposes.
That is probably where you're getting the big price difference. All Star is probably quoting you for an OE replacement (though that price still seems REALLY low) whereas Safelite is probably quoting you for single layer safety glass.

I just got mine done. Took a rock while traveling home from VA to FL. Got the OEM glass and at no charge. FL law that any crack larger than a dollar bill can be replaced with a new wind shield at no cost to owner. Of course this depends on your insurance coverage. But no out of pocket for the replacment. I love this law as I had to have it done twice on my old mini-van. And now once on the TL-S. Don't skimp, get OEM.
