whistling/squealing at LOW/Medium RPMS

for about 3 months now ive been hearing a high pitched..but not terribly loud...whistling squealing noise that sounds like it may be comming from the exhaust? but im not sure.. it only happens at lower RPM... around the 2000 area. any ideas? i do have a Injen CAI but it was making that noise long before i installed it.

edit: exhaust leak.. or intake. Exhaust leak sounds like a hissing / not really high pitch.. you should be able to tell from underneath.

CAI's including Injen are known to whistle ~2-3k rpms.. If it's not the intake & not the exhaust.. from your description it could be the torque converter.. Cross your fingers it's just the intake. Post a soundclip if you can.

a whistle, not a whining? whining = diy o-ring (power steering). from your descriptions though, probably not.

ok i get the same sound and i think i know where its coming from !!!

after installing the MDX spacer and while putting the cover back on (which has Acura VTEC written on it) i broke a corner bolt !!! since then its been whistling at low rpms and idle....less than 2K rpms

so when i pop the hood open and when its whistling and i place my finger on the intake manifold cover....the sound is gone....i gotta extract the bolt and put a new one in there !!!

for your case i would check all the intake manifold bolts....check if all the bolts on the P2R are tight....

did you fix it? Its harder for me to hear because its not nearly as pronounced in park as it is when its actually driving. Is it the same for you?

i did replace the intake manifold (coz of the broken bolts) and i replaced it with a Ported and polish manifold

no more whistling....now i can actually talk to the chic is the next car and not worry about the whistle
