Warning - be careful with "Jig-A-Loo" !

I've been successfully using Silicone spray to silence a number of creaks and rattles (posted in other threads). Yesterday I picked up a can of Jig-A-Loo thinking it would be the 'same but better'.

Well, I sprayed it into the crack around the passenger air vent, and also into the gap above the wood trim on the passenger side door. I noticed, while spraying, that I could see 'frost' on the plastics, similar to the frost you get if you shake a can of 'dust off' before spraying - it's the propellant reacting. Anyway, today, I noticed a serious discoloration on the air vent, and also - even worse - serious damage to the clear coating over the 'wood' trim.

I'm going to try buffing both with something (any suggestions? I was thinking using a Mr Clean magic eraser, or something) to see if I can at least partially recover from this.

I went back to using silicone, with no problems.

I'm going crazy trying to stop creaks, squeeks, rattles, etc. Now I'm damaging my car in the process!
