VSA and Engine Light goes on, 2004 TL goes into limp mode

I am having intermittent problems over the last few months with this. i can feel it coming on as the car pauses a split second when I accelerate. Then I can feel it jerk slightly at higher speeds. My personal mechanic (who is awesome) ran the diagnostic and code P2138 came up around a PCM update....possible sensor. He said to take it to the dealer who said it could be several things and they need it for 4 hours of diagnostics before they can figure it out. I will take it in, but am concerned I am walking into a costly fix. Anyone else dealt with this issue? Any advice appreciated!

I had this exact problem with my '04. What you need to do is have the dealer replace the accellerator pedal position sensor. Mine was replaced and the problem went away. Can't tell you how much it cost since my extended warranty covered it, but that's what is wrong. Good Luck!

anything that controls the engine like a pcm or O2 sensor falls under SMOG warranty- which is longer than the cars warranty
Acura also has secret extended warranties on known problem items
Call and make a file complaint 1-800-382-2238x5- the minimum wage phone person will say take it to the dealer- dont worry.. it sets wheel in motion

then take it to the dealer for diagnosis

Service Writers are there to make commission money and give you a high number like 4 hours that is total BS-
go speak with the Service MANAGER and ask when the diagnoser tech has time- what day do they want the car..not when does the service writer want it to get another car in the door
The best guy has certain times available for driveabilty problems

do an internet search for acura pcm promblems- see if anyone else has reported it

+1... APP Sensor - real easy DIY if you want to save $100 - 150.
