Unhappy A unique problem

Hello fellow AZ members!

So I have a pretty unique problem and I've looked through the forum, but couldn't find an answer. If it's already been answered before, please let me know!

I have a '08 Type-S with the independent fog light mod and a few days ago, I'd notice that every time I would drive, accelerate and let off the gas, my gauges would basically surge. Basically, everything would reset. Sometimes, the battery light would pop-up for a second during the reset. I'm leaning towards the alternator going out, since it's never been changed in my ownership.

Now, during the resets, I've noticed my fog lights are not working, hence why I brought up the independent fog light mod point. I've tried several troubleshooting steps (replacing the tap fuse in another location to make sure my instrument panel works, since I blew the fuse trying to fix that and switching out the fog light relay with a different one since I feel no click when I use the fog light switch)

The only other steps I can try, thanks to the knowledge of a friend is either swap out the current fogs I have (I have led ones btw) or check the wire that goes from the relay to the fog connectors. I think it might be the wire because another friend of mine had the same issue and he needed new wires. And honestly, probably cheaper than a new alternator, which I probably will replace in the near future.

Again, this is a pretty unique problem and I'd appreciate any help from the community.

Thanks for reading!

Get a multimeter from harbor freight/walmart (cheap is fine). Set it do DC 20 volts range and you'll see 12V with the car off on the battery. With the car running it should never go above 14.8V, if it does that is an issue with the rectifier in the alternator.

Also the gauges/lights are on a communication network called "CAN". If a component is sending a bad signal, it messes up every electronic system on the same network!
