Type S 5AT Grind?
before I call the dealer on Tuesday, does anybody elses 5AT grind when you come out of reverse into drive and start to drive away? If I back out of a driveway, stop and put it into drive and start pulling away it will make a quick grind sound after about 5-10 feet, it used to do it every once in a while but its doing it every time now.
I remember older hondas used to do it goring from reverse to drive if you didnt stop fully....exact same sound, only different reason. Ive had two other third gen autos and neither of them did this

do this again, and look at your speedometer. It should happen at about 20 MPH. IF so this is the ABS system self testing and re-pressurizing itself. It is normal, also you should feel a flutter in the brake pedal.

if the 3rd gens are like the 2nd gens there are 2 abs tests.....one at start and one when the car moves....but trans grinding is not normal. if ur car is under warranty, take it in...........

My car does the same exact thing.
Only when it's been sitting outside overnight and the car is dead cold.
It happens when I'm applying a moderate amount of throttle when the car has been on for about 20 / 30 seconds.

sounds similar, mine first started doing it when it was dead cold. Now I can park it for twenty minutes and it will do it. But only after backing out, if I just put it in drive and go its fine.
Its going to the dealer next monday, so we shall see what kinda bs excuse they try to give me to say that its normal

Oh yeah, this only happens on the very first change from 1st > 2nd gear that day. After that, the car does not make this noise.

so my car has been at the dealer since Monday night to replace the struts and check the grind problem.
I made sure to tell them that the noise is specificially when i BACK the car out of my driveway after its been sitting for a bit is when this occurs, they have told me that they have tried multiple times but cant replicate my problem.
So I stop by there today to show them what its doing....and I cant imagine why they're having a problem replicating it when the car has been backed into a spot every time they've parked it! I can't stand incompetent fucktards.
So I had to unsuccessfully show them the problem, then nose it into a spot myself and tell them I will be back later.

FWIW, I think reverse is exactly like a manual with a shift fork and all. May be a sticking fork, especially a broken release spring.
