TSB's and Recall

Hey Guys,

Just a quick question .. it might sound dumb ... but I'm in need of this information ...

What are TSB's i know it stands to Technical Service Bulletins ... so if i find TSB for my car ... will the dealer fix the problem at no cost?

Safety Recalls: If a safety recalls is required to be performed on my car, and the car was purchased in the US and I'm in Canada ... will the Canadian dealer be able to perform those Safety Recalls? and lastly, how will a "REBUILT" title either effect TSB's or Safety Recalls?

Thanks for all your help ...

TSB might be fixed if you are in warranty AND affected by the problem. The dealer is not required to fix something just because a TSB exists - you have to exhibit the problem and the diagnostics need to match the TSB. Some dealers are more lenient than others.

Safety Recalls are effective regardless of warranty and regardless of whether you acually experience the problem being solved. The dealer MUST perform the recall if the car is presented.

However, your circumstances are special and may not be covered the same way. I don't know how a US market car with a recall is handled in Canada. I also don't know how the "rebuild" title effects your claim - it may void it.

rebuilt = salvage title and affects/cancels MOST of the warranty except seatbelt recall or airbag SRS- thats based on gen2 problems and salvage title questions.

TSB is simply referance material for the dealer techs to solve problems
Sometime may be a warranty item in the repair- for clean title cars only

Canada and usa cars may have some differances too, check parts before you buy anything,,and plan on DIY fixes for most stuff, no warranty for you- thats why the car was so cheap!

I tried to get Acura of Avon to cover the TSB for the PCM/ECM reflash, and they wouldn't do it because the car was out of warranty by three months. They wouldn't even good will it. Bastards.

Gonna get it done at the dealer my mom works for in NH next time I'm there.

did your car NEED the reflash or you just wanted it done without symptoms?

If not able to get help from the service MANAGER.. then its time to call corp for help- they are the ones who `grant goodwill`- not the dealership

Yes it needs the reflash.....car threw all the codes in the TSB, and the Regional Acura Reps have the power to ok TSB's and repairs to be goodwilled without permission from corporate if the repair is under a certain amount.

In my case, it's a $100 fix. Nothing big, but I want it done. It's annoying for my CEL to go nuts when I have to mash the gas to merge onto the highway.

^ Can you negotiate a lesser rate? Offer them $XX.XX amount and see what they can do?

My mom works at an Acura Dealer in NH, and I'm planning on going up there for a visit this weekend. They're going to do it for $30.
