Transmission issues...I'm getting fed up with this car...

So, I've been trying to get Acura to get me some rear bump stops for the rear tire wear issue and yesterday morning the transmission starts acting up.

I'm at 62,000 miles now and I'm out of warranty. The transmission was replaced back at 48,000 miles or so. My dealer thought the heat shield sound was the transmission. I should never have let them touch the transmission.

What happens is when I put the car in gear, the gear won't catch. The engine just revs. Then I'll put it in Reverse and it will do the same thing. Then strangely, if I put the car in Park and then in gear again, the gears catch and I'm moving.

So the car is at South Bay Acura right now and they will be trying to diagnose the problem. I really don't like my car anymore. I have so little fatih in this company now. I'm through with them. Like I have said before, Lexus, here I come.

I'll keep you guys updated!

good luck. I'm sorry you've lost faith in Acura.

its funny though, you say "Lexus here I come" as if their cars are trouble free.

My car is a 2004.

The only reason I say "Here I come Lexus" is I feel that they treat their customers much better. I am through with Acura Service Advisors giving me crap about my car.

I know that if I have a Lexus and the transmission goes, it will be prompty taken care of. I know Lexus has fuddy duddy cars but I'm getting older as well. Maybe its time to drive a more refined car without the hassles of compaing and arguing to service advisors.

Thanks for wishing me luck however. I think I'm gonna need it.

I'm expecting them to call me this morning with the diagnosis. I'm all jittery now...

$hit, not again, Hukashi! I'm sorry to hear about your tranny issues (though I thought the issue before was the heat shield).

He has an '04.

Thanks neuronbob.

Well here is a bit more info.

Before I left the dealership, I asked for a paper towel and checked the tranny fluid.
The fluid was pretty brown in my opinion. If they put in a new transmission back at 48k and I now have 62k, I don't think the fluid should be so dark. Even with my first tranny, I got the fluid changed out at 25k and the fluid was in good shape. But this was darker than that at only 14k.

Maybe there was some funny business with the tranny that they put in?

Oh yeah BTW...

I'm getting married this Saturday... Ya gotta love it...

Also, the dry cleaners ruined my fiance's gown...And I hurt my foot the other day so I'm gonna limp down the aisle if it doesn't heal in time...

I'm having a hell of a week aren't I?

Yay for me...

At 27, you're still too young to drive a Lexus. j/k Congratulations on your marriage!

Can't agree with you more on acura services. They need to learn how to treat customers from Lexus. If they treated customers right, big problems are no problems.

Well it took some time and some phone calls but I got the bump stops installed.

I also got a new transmission for free. I got charged for a new battery though and that's about it.

Acura came through for me this time. I hope I won't have to go through something like this ever again. The car is back to its old self but i'm still quite wary of what could happen to the tranny in the future. I think I'll baby this tranny and hope for the best.

BTW, the wedding went great and the honeymoon in Maui was wonderful!!!!

Congratulations on your success. Glade things are looking better for you now!

Why did the dealer replace the transmission after the warranty expired? Were they just extending themselves or did they have a good reason to cover it? Was it the brown fluid?

I had the transmission in my '01 CLS replaced under the extended tranny warranty. I traded shortly after getting it back for the '05 TL since it didn't shift like the original tranny. I didn't want to get stuck after the warranty was out.
