Tranny slip, jerk, slow reverse engaging

Hey guys,
While driving my car seems to jerk while changing gears as well as while being in the last gear on the highway I will feel jerks. This started happening yesterday in 80F+ weather with the A/C on. I hardly use my A/C.

during take off it will feel like the car is in neutral and then jerk into gear

during reverse it won't engage until about 5 seconds, it'll feel like it's in neutral.

I changed my transmission fluid recently 1 month ago

Did you change your sensors at all?
What year and how many miles?

I have about 160,000 miles, I haven't changed my sensors at all.

I am thinking about doing a timing belt change since I haven't done that at all since I've bought the car as well as a power steering pump change as my steering is very hard when stopped. Do I change the water pump when I change the timing belt and the power steering pump?

A short delay is normal when putting it into gear, the transmission on my 05 is in top shape and it still takes about a second (which feels more like a minute) for it to engage in drive or reverse. Our cars do not engage in the drive gears instantly.

so while driving on the freeway, I press the accelerator pedal and the RPMs shoot up but it seems like the car is in neutral and then all of a sudden it catches and then goes into the gear and jerks.

Does that make sense?

Nope.

Tranny is headed to no man's land.

Check the fluid level first. If that's ok, you're probably going to be out of luck. If it's an '04-'06 there's an external filter you can check. The switches should have been replaced a long time ago and may help a little but they're not going to fix it completely. If none of this helps swap the fluid with some cheap Type F fluid to help limp it along a little longer.

Just took it to AAMCO, they confirmed it's a 3-4th gear and drum. My car is an 2006, where is this filter? They told me the filter was inside.

They said to rebuild the transmission, I'd rather just put the money I would pay for a transmission re-haul on a new car though.

Dude, I would just get a new car as long as you're not upside down on your TL meaning owing more then what the car is actually worth

so the short delay going into a gear is normal for an 04 TL?

I have the samething. Just started yesterday.
A big delay between gear engagements.

Yes It started on a day with hot 80F outside and while a/c was on.
I barely use a/c as well.

Got the check engine light by the end of the day.
Gave me these codes.

Just got my 3rd 4th gear pressure switches in.. let's see if there is any improvement which I doubt there will be :-(.

I did not get a CEL but did get a flashing D light that went away.. as well as when I tried to switch over to manual mode the LCD did not show me what gear it was in and was actually blank. I did come back after a few mins of the car being turned off then back on.

how does the fluid smell? does it have a burnt smell to it?

do you have any codes?

did you do a drain and refill? excessive shavings on the plug? did you change your transmission filter?
