Take this car and shove it!

I have ~550 miles on my TL-S. So far, this car has been a fucking nightmare. I originally got rid of my Subaru STi because it was completely unreliable. I went with an Acura because I thought it would be a dependable car. Not so.

In the less than 1 week of ownership, I have experienced no interior illuminaion (besides the guages and nav screen), a broken drivers seat (seat back is separating from seat body) and tonight I just got pulled over for....

NO FUCKING TAIL LIGHTS.

Acura can have it's fucking car back. I miss my Suby already.

Were the rest of your lights on? A common problem people have - and this may be even more of an issue now - is that newer cars with the bright gauges make people think the lights are on; the 07 has DRLs so that just ends up confusing people more - there's a bit of light out front and the gauges are on - that seems to make most people think the headlights are on. Your 07 should have a setting for automatic headlights; using a light sensor to determine whether or not the headlights and running lights should be on.

As far as no interior illumination - no clue there honestly; did the dealership already fix this? And if so what was the cause?

Seat back.. just have a new seat put in the car from the dealership.

No offense taken. Headlights were set to auto. I got out and checked. Headlights worked and so did the hazards/blinkers.

Dealer had to order the parts for the interior illumination and the seat.

Looks like I jumped out of the pot and into the fire. Acura will be hearing about my dis-satisfaction on Monday.

Definately make Acura Corporate aware of the issues with your car.. There could be a small problem with the electrical system - maybe the fuse board is bad or has loose contacts and is causing these issues. Did you play with your fuses at all to see if your tail lights come on ? Do the brake lights work ? (I know it's a brand new car so you should have no need to be in the fuse box checking for loose fuses and other issues - but if your bored it might be worth looking at)

Sorry about your trouble.

Check the Lemon Law for your state. If you've got a Lemon, you need to keep documentation from day 1.

You don't say where you live or bought the car, but does your state have "lemon laws"? These may not qualify, but I think you can make a case for the seat and the lack of tail lights being a safety hazard. Either way, done properly on Monday, you should have someone at Acura eating out of your hand, if not feeding you grapes.

Get a sufficient loaner (they tried to put me in a Toyota Echo once...long story, didn't happen though), and request they do the pre-delivery checks again. Stay and watch if you care. You want someone to be personally invested in the quality of the repairs, who can be held accountable later. That requires diplomacy, so get all your venting out on this site and go in there with resolve and a plan.

If they ask you what it will take to make you happy, have an answer! Short of them taking the car back and returning all of your money (with interest ...smile), some free oil changes or first scheduled service (or two) might make you feel better.

Anytime I have to bring the car back twice for the same issue, I'm getting something free. My time is money, so there are no "free" visits as far as I'm concerned.

Good luck, it really is a great car...you know that, or you wouldn't have bought it.

I would look at the fuse box, but I have no interior lights.

Yes, Texas does have a lemon law clause. Unfortunately, I don't fall under the umbrella.

I will be requesting free service, if not a buy-back.

If I were in your shoes, I'd ditch the car before more of this garbage starts happening. Unfortunately, you got dealt a defective vehicle. 99% of Acura's on the road are rock solid, you just got a raw deal. Good luck, dude!

racked up 4,500 miles in less the 6 weeks of driving my new 07' TL-S w/ Zero problems. You just got a defective unit it seems. Sclass88 is right, 99% of the Acura cars out there are rock solid.

So solid that I traded in my 05' with 54,000 in exactly two years for another one. I know your t'd off, but trust me the cars are great!

Sorry you had such a bad experience.

I find that hard to believe. 3 problems with less than 600 miles on the clock doesn't sit well with me.

Sorry to hear about your negative experience. I have to say, I came from driving a Pontiac (average reliability / horrendous depreciation) to an 06 TL 6MT. I had that car for about 20k miles and it was absolutely bullet proof. I had nothing done to it except for normal maintenance and a minor rattle in the front right speaker (replaced speaker under warranty). That car was stolen earlier this year, after which I didn't hesitate to buy an '07 TL-S. The new car has 1500 miles and is looking good so far!

Just thought I'd share my experience with Acura. I'm willing to bet that this is more the norm. Either way, hope you'll give it another chance.

Sometimes its Complete Bad Luck bro. Not every TLS is like that. Maybe 1 failure model came out and was stuck in ur hands. Just like how people here have Tranny problems with 2G TLs. Some people here changed there trannies more than 3 times. I have owned two 2G TLs. 02TLP for 2yrs and Now 03TLS. They havent Given me any tranny Problems yet.
There Were NO Tranny Changed in their Past and are working PERFECTLY with their originial trannies. its 73000Miles now!

For the lights not coming on, there was an affected batch of radios that were acknowledged by acura and there was a notice sent to dealerships about it.
As for the taillights not coming on, I really don't know about that, I would check the fusebox for any loose wires and check the VSA switch as a faulty one can render no taillights. As for the seat, I have no idea, but I am sure it can be fixed if you take it to the dealership. I would call acura and have them reimburse you for the ticket as the taillights failed. This is just my , and you should give the car another chance, and by lemon law rules, The Company should have to do a final repair attempt to fix all the issues with the car.

I didn't get a ticket, just a warning. I know the car doesn't fall under the lemon law umbrella (yet), but I am going to make Acura aware of the problem and have them document it all.

And that's the same thing the dealer told me about the center stack illumination.

Acura has been made aware of the problem and a case file was opened. That's about all I can do for now. I'm going to be very adamant about letting Acura know if anything else happens.

I've had 4 Acura's...3TL's...and never had ANY problem with those cars. My current TL only had 12,000 miles, but it's a '04 so it's a few years old. No rattles....nothing!!! Acura's are really reliable cars. You just got a bad one. Sorry about your car...but don't condem all Acura's.....99+% are rock solid reliable.

How's the car? Hope everything is well... I haven't had any problems with mine *yet* so looks like you may have just had a shitty experience. Happens once and a while.

Hope it all gets worked out... it's a great car.

Jesus, did you get a lemon, or what?

I haven't had a problem yet, but I think that I may have a tensioner pulley going out.

Unfortunately I don't fall under lemon law (yet). I still have 11 months and 25 days shop time to be lemoned. But with 75% of the body panels not lining up, the seat back still not fixed, and the window seal pealing, it's adding up fast.

I'm not worried about it. I go through cars (almost) like you do.
