Supercharged TL's - Battery Replacement

Well, I had to happen for the first time this past month. A bad battery in the TL after 1.5 years under the supercharger. It was a yellow top Optima battery, which are fairly well known for crapping out if you let them sit for a month or two without action - at least around our area they are. BUT...reason for post...you DO NOT NEED TO REMOVE THE SUPERCHARGER TO GET THE BATTERY OUT! We were able to get at it by removing the CAI tubing through the front wheel area. Just barely enough room for the Optima to come out and the new battery to go back in. You will need to tape off the terminals though to prevent any kind of grounding situation from occurring.

So - word to the wise - try the inner wheel well first on the battery replacement when you have a supercharged TL with the battery relocator that puts it under the supercharger unit. I always wanted to relocate it to the trunk, but I would rather have the weight over the front wheels frankly.

Did you need to remove the headlight housing to do the removal and battery replacement ? I am dealing with a bad Interstate 51, (not a 51R), and would love to make this replacement without removing the supercharger. Any advise would be much appreciated. Thanks.

No...I did not have to remove the headlight at all.
