Stutter going into 2nd gear

So my wife just got her 2006 TL with about 80k on it. I notice a small stutter and shake when the AT is going from 1st to 2nd gear. If we don't know if the trany fluid has been changed, should I just do the drain/fill/drain/fill method?

I thought Acura fixed the transmission problems from the 2nd gen TL...so hopefully the fluid is all that needs to be changed.

If so...can someone point me in the right direction of where the filler bolt and drain bolt are located? Thanks.

You need to change the tranny pressure sensors and do a 3x3 with Redline Racing or other premium ATF fluid.

The 04-06 trans is different from the 07-08....yours is actually easier to do than mine.

Do a search, bro. I'm new and barely post anything because it's all been DIY'd, discussed, analysed, etc.

Thanks, but search isn't working that well for me right now. I found the DIY for the 07-08, but cannot find the DIY for the pressure switches on the 04-06. When you say 3x3 you mean drain 3 quarts, fill 3 quarts right?

The pressure switches are for 3rd and 4th gear...that would not effect the shift from 1st to 2nd. Probably just need to do a 3 x 3.

Nope its 9 quarts total = 3x3. Do this first before going more into the pressure switch..but like GKinColo08TL said it doesnt effect 1 - 2 gear

Thanks for the link!
9 Quarts is expensive, but I guess it's worth it.

With the age of these cars (mileage is less imortant), the switches are a very good idea to reduce wear even if they aren't the cause of the problem right now. Pressure switches affect the park to drive delay (the double bump), 2-3, 3-4, 4-5, and torque converter lockup.

You don't have to use the Redline brand though I think it's the "best". You can use Amsoil Super Shift or even a regular cheap dino Type F. Do at least the first 1x3 of Type F then decide if you want to do another of the same fluid or something different.

Where do you guys buy this Amsoil or Type F fluid? My auto parts store only carries the Castrol TransMax for Honda.

Amsoil is usually by mail unless you have a dealer near you.

Type F is a type of fluid. It can be any brand. Many times it's marketed as a "racing" fluid but any auto parts store should have it.
