Stripped thread for Throttle Body Bolt
I really did it this time! I was cleaning my throttle body the other day. After putting everything back together, I couldn't get one of the throttle body bolts to tighten. The other three bolts are tighten to specs (16 ft/lb). How can I fix this without having to replaced an expensive intake manifold?
Timesert thread insert.
If you are near a napa autoparts store they should have them
or check around at auto parts store
what it does is you drill the whole out bigger then you tap that out with a backwards thread and then a piece threads into that where you then can put your bolt into that

if the threads are lightly trashed - which will require removal of the TB assembly to see whats up- trashed but still there-
you have the possibilty of using a thread tap to recut the threads in the same original way.
If they look torn or destroyed- then the insert described in other post- is the way to go.
You drill a larger hole toremove the remainder of the threads- put the ~spacer with replacement threads~ in the new hole and put it all back together.
Get a ride to parts store, with pics of whats going on, and take the offending bolt and a good bolt for the person to help you get the right stuff
Good luck-- and next time bring the torque down even on each bolt a little at a time- 16 ft lbs is not very much at all-
allways check your torque wrench calibration first,,, by testing what the bolts are at before removal~
Failure to keep torque wrench (spring activated click type) stored with light- 10 pounds pressure on them will result in screwy readings all the time. a tip from snap-on tools!

Fixed the problem with amazing results!
Well after taking it to my favorite local shop, because I didn't want to screw something up worst. They figured out that I only needed longer bolts than the ones that come with the P2R spacers. They only charged me $10 (cost of the bolts).
I may be crazy, but I think I gained about 10hp/10tq. Reason, I had the pro-cats put on right after I installed the P2R. I only gained 8hp/2tq, which was puzzling with the pro-cats reputation. Those bolts were the missing link. My car has mad power now! Needless to say, I will be doing another dyno very soon!
