Strange transmission event yesterday

Started the car in the morning, put it in reverse and waited for engagement which did not come. I did hear a faint vibrating noise. Put it back in Park, waited a second or two and then in Reverse. Nothing except for a faint vibrating noise. At that point, I gave it a LITTLE gas and there was a load screeching clunk as it went into reverse. No problems since then. It is an '07 Base with just under 20,000 miles on it. Anyone hear of this before?

proceed directly to the dealer for a test drive/parking lot test, with the Head Tech

gen2 had all sorts of trans probs and gen3 are just a continuation

sounds like reverse didn't engage My guess is something inside got messed up. Do you have a habit of putting the car into drive while its still rolling back from reversing? Do you do the same with drive to reverse? Have you reversed at over 15 MPH?

Going to dealer tomorrow, but it has been fine since. Power steering done, wiper motor does not apply to me.

The answer is "No" to all three questions.

I've done both tracks on my bike, but not in my TL. I have a Yamaha R1 and an FJR1300 when I feel the need for performance and handling. Any car is sort of Ho-Hum in that department compared to my bikes. I drive the TL easy.

ok- then there will be no issues at the dealer, no sticky tape number residue, no 1/4 times on the window- that sort of thing

Just fyi- the TL is a lot of fun as a track day car- its impressive what the car will really do,,,and not wear out your kneepads~
A shadow 1100...is my mellow ride
