Sticking Gears

Hey guys, I have a 2005 TL 6 speed MT, 127k miles. I was getting my oil changed the other day and was an idiot and agreed to allow the shop to change my transmission fluid. After they had already changed the fluid, it dawned on me to check this site and see if they were doing the right thing....stupid me.

The shop used Liqui Moly and said it meets the specifications for the car. Now my gears fell all types of sticky. My third gear has always been a little sticky sometimes, but now all of my gears stick, especially at low RPMs. If I'm on the highway, it's not as evident. But I live/work on an Army base and hardly take my car over 30 mph during the week, so I feel it all the time.

What can I do to remedy this situation? Did I hurt my baby? I've read quite a few threads on GM Synchromesh, and I'd like to re-do the fluid myself to save some money, but I don't have the necessary tools to get it done. I have a car care center here on base, but it's quite a small base, the car center has very few tools at my disposal, but they do have a lift, so I've got that going for me.

Thanks everyone for any and all feedback.

you need to drain the tranny fluid and fill it back up with either the Honda stuff or the GM magic juice.

the GM syncromesh modifed friction fluid will get rid of the "sticky or notchiness"

Don't need much in terms of tools. It's basically a drain and fill. You should notice improved shifting instantly.

As stated earlier use the GM fluid, study the information and make certain you know the fill and inspection hole.

Just a follow up, I went back to the original shop with the GM magic juice, and they drained and refilled for free. I can feel a HUGE difference even in the short drive back home from the shop. I love this site and all the helpful folks in the forums. Thanks everyone!!

Very glad you came back and posted this. Just another data point of how great that fluid is.
