Ive been noticing a issue with my 05 TL, recently when I go to start my car it wont start when I turn the key. At first i thought it was a battery issue but i have a new battery. In order to start it i have to shift the car into natural or drive and then back into park then it will start. Does anyone know what the problem might be?

 

my chevy malibu does that too, my mechanic told me the shift rod isnt fully going into park. iv been doing it for about a year now, sometimes it does it and sometimes i have to do what you are saying.....but most of the time i can get away with just kinda wiggiling the shifter,lol, you will see. hell you will be great at it in a fewweeks,lol

 

Sounds like a bad Neutral Safety Switch.
