Starter or something else?

I got off work today and when I turned the key the engine wouldn't crank just one click, non of the lights dimmed.

I asked my buddy to turn the key while I tapped the starter and the car fired right up.

When I got home the car started up fine without tapping the starter.

should I replace my starter? or is something else wrong?

2004 TL - 111000km

EDIT: sorry thought I posted this in the Problems & Fixes.

Yes, sounds like your starter is going bad. Better to get it fixed sooner before you're left stranded somewhere.

I have a 2006 TL and mine acted the same way. I just got it replaced, and everything works well (so far.......)

Yep, definitely starter, I just replaced mine last week that went bad without any signs, just went dead. You should just get it replaced.

You should also test the battery to make sure it's putting out 12.1V off and 14.1V running.
Clean terminals if they have corrosion.

I had the same thing happen to me as OP. I had aaa come out and they tapped the starter and it didn't budge. Battery is recording low however the lights were not dim of flicker. At the mechanic now replacing the stsrter, hoping thats the problem... What else could it be?

Replaced the starer last night only took an hour, taking out the battery tray was the hardest part.

I will also replace my battery because It's dropping below 12v overnight it's 4 years old anyways.

I followed this guide to replace my starter:
