Angry Srsly tho? WTF with the transmissions?

I just recently made a post about a concern I had just experienced with my 08 TL. It has only 120K on it and I take good care of it and never drive it hard.
I noticed that when I go into 4th gear I tiptronic or auto mode, I cannot accelerate and the engine just revs hard. There are no flashing D's, no oil lights, no warnings signs and my transmission fluid is only 6 months old; still pink brown.
Some knowledge folk here informed me it could be the beginnings of a failing transmission. I have yet to diagnose this...

From all the readings I've done on this forum and on the internet, the transmissions in the 3rd Gens seem to fail much earlier than they should be. It appears to be a bloody plague! How can an overall great car have such a horrible component and fail so early in the cars life time? A problem that has never been sufficiently addressed - so I've read. Just on this section alone, there are over 10 complaints about trannys. I just find this absolutely ridiculous from Acura.

I'm not about to dismiss Acura and claim that I should have bought a new Audi instead but they should definitely be held liable and pushed back on hard if this is. Has anyone ever did a poll on this? Judging from all the transmission troubleshooting, I'm probably not the first one to complain about this subject.

research man, research. This is a known issue since at least 1998 with Honda built cars and automatic. Been an issue ever since the 5at was introduced...

Welcome to 14 years ago

Liable? Why? They extended the warranty and went above and beyond many other manufacturers with goodwill repairs.

Failure rate isn't that high in reality. However, you can bet every single one with knowledge of internet forums got on here to say something about it...

Unbelievable. Someone does not know their history and did not bother to search. Transmissions are one of the most talked about subjects. If you would have taken the time to search you would see that these transmissions require 2 things to live a nice long life. A Dex III, Dex VI, or a mix of Dex III and Type F will greatly extend the life, Honda fluid is about the worst fluid you can run. Second is the pressure switches. Replace every 2-3 years regardless of mileage.

You got 120,000 miles out of it, I don't see the problem. It's definitely not an early failure. Being from Csnada, maybe you meant 120,000 kilometers. What is that, about 75,000 miles. Not good but depending on the history of the car it's not surprising especially if driven hard on Z1 and original pressure switches.

I would get it properly diagnosed before creaking out. Have you checked it for codes regardless of a check engine light being present?

Everything you could ever want to know is on this board. I literally just got done writing the trans problems and their causes and fixes a few hours ago in another thread that's still on the first page. Search and you will find a more detailed explanation.
