Speedometer inner circle is bouncing around

Hi on my new 2006 TL the speedometer inner half circle is bouncing around all of the time. The outer half circle is solid doesn't move at all. But the inner half circle where the kilometer per hour is measured is constantly bouncing around. I've have even tried to stop the car and with the engine idling and if you watch it closely it bounces. I don't think it did this when the car was brand new since I think I would have noticed it. It is pretty nerve racking now that I know it does it.

Has anyone else seen this issue with any of there TL's? Does anyone know if the speedometer is one solid piece? I am guessing there is two pieces now that I've seen this issue. If no one has seen this issue, I guess I will have to make my first trip to the dealer with a complaint. I was hoping to make the first oil change at least with no issues.

It does move / bounce its no illusion. I am thinking it could also be the backlight is loose maybe and is bouncing around. Anyone have any experience with TL speedometer's?

I have not heard of this, and when I saw your post last night I scratched my head. This morning when I was stopped at a red light I leaned down to take a close look at my speedometer. It looks to me as though both the metric and US scales are on a single piece and that if one of them appears to be moving, so should the other; it appears that if anything is a separate piece, it's the outer portion where the 5-mph gradients appear.

You might want to post a general query in a new thread asking if anyone has the service manual and, if so, whether they can post the pages addressing the speedometer.

it's all an illusion. it has to do with the way your eyes interpret colors. if i stare at my alarm clock long enough, the red numbers start to bounce. search the web for it...you'll find something.
