Serpentine belt pulley and tensioner
Hi everybody
I have TL with 192K miles and looking on my "old looking" serpentive belt, decided to make full service timig and sperpentive belts replacement. I bought used car and I don't know when the previous ownter(owners) made replacement of the belts last time.
I have bought all kit for timing belt, and bought serpentive belt separately. But a question, do I need to replace sperpentive pulley and tensioner as well? how to understand if they need to replace? Or looking on my high miliage it s obviously need to replace?
Thanks

You only need to replace it if it's noisy or not holding proper tension.
There's an indicator that you can check, #3 on the picture. If that's not within the range either the belt is worn and needs to be replaced or the tensioner isn't holding proper tension. If your belt isn't making noise, looks good, and that mark's within the range you don't even need to replace the belt. Since you said the belt looks old, just put the new belt on and see if the indicator is within range. Also inspect the pulley and make sure it isn't noisy when you spin it when you have the belt off.

Unless there is no noticeable sound or play within the pulleys, you probably don't need to replace it. If it's making a squeaking sound it's most likely the tensioner.
If you go to the dealer, then try a Honda dealer. They can grab the same part, just under Honda name instead, and you'll save a good chunk of money.

Why? If its in spec and not making noise there is no need. No advantage other than to save the time it takes to take the belt off later if you need to replace the tensioner. There is no extra room, no fewer parts to remove while you are doing the timing belt.

Thank you for replys. I think during changing of timig belt I check the serpentive belt pulley and tensioner. If I figure out that it s time to change, then I buy these parts later and do by myself. Looks that nothing difficult to change pulley and tensioner by my own.

If it will be interesting to somebody...
I have changed timig belt and serpentive belt on my Acura. And mecanick told me that this is the first time timing belt changing on this car!!! I was shocked! I have 192K miles and time belt was not changed before, sperpentive belt as well!
The both belts were in awfull condition but still workable. Tensioner and pulley for sperpentive belt are still fine so no need to change.
So interesting experience..
