Screeching Noise In Reverse

Noise comes from driver's side rear brake when in gear in reverse AND just rolling in reverse, without applying brakes.

I've done extensive searching and also tore the entire assembly apart and reassembled it today to check. I thought maybe lube issues, that one side of the pads were worn more than the other, or a material related issue but no conclusion as of now. Any other thoughts?

Wouldn't a wheel bearing do it in forward too? OP did you check the emergency brake assy too?

Actually my father and I were installing my left emergency brake assembly when we tore it apart yesterday. This noise started happening prior to that (when I had no emergency brake) and is still the same pitch and volume. Could it be that the caliper is not fully disengaging? I say that because the pads were much more worn than I expected.

If the pads are worn down far enough, they will start squealing even when you aren't hitting the brakes.

I'm thinking it has got to be the abnormally worn pads causing the noise, which may be attributed to the previously missing e-brake components. Thanks for the responses.

most likely is your rear brakes .Sometimes the brake pad will shift in a way that your brake wear indicators will make noise .i would replace rear brake pads
