RPM's jumping
I have an 04 tl with 38.000 miles on it. When I am cruising about 50 miles an hour the rpms will jump up and down from about 1500 to 2000 back and forth. Any ideas? I have read somewhat that the 04's had a transmisson recall. Any links to the recall. thanks for your help

register your car at www.acura.com ownership experience to learn about any warranty.
The earlier 00-03s had the prob thought to be fixed with trans.
Then take your ride to the dealer or parts store to pull codes
Need them to help diagnois, but does not sound trans related
Does the rpm INDICATE is moving around- or actually do it?

So only the guage is moving the engine speed does not change- correct?
Go to auto parts store and ask them to pull the codes- its free
Then we can narrow down past things like alternator, ignition switch, battery or battery cables and connections. A good look around is the first thing

Does this hunting happen under any other conditions or speeds? If not, the car is fine. I'm not aware of any recall for the '04s for any transmission issues; you can check the 3G Garage thread for info on TSBs and recalls.

WOW, I have the same problem but mine is an 2005. I was gonna go to the dealer and ask them if that is bad or not, but never did because it never happened at any other speed
