Replacing postive battery post/connector

My positive battery terminal has some corrosion and the post is starting to get flimsy. I only found one noteworthy in the 3G area on replacing JUST the post/connector if it gets corroded instead of the entire cable. Looking for any other data points if people have experience with just replacing this part...which appears to be no more than $10 from any local auto parts store. Positive or negative experiences with doing this (versus replacing the whole cable) would be appreciated. I found the OEM cable for my 05 6MT TL for $40 shipped...so the cost isn't that much more...but it's the extra time to factor in. Thanks.
(cleaned it all with baking soda and water and it looks good...but still considering replacing)

I did some research on this too and it does look fairly simple to do. The only thing I'm worried about is that I can't do it after I get the connector off, and then my car ends up being rendered useless and requires a tow to the mechanic.

If you do want to replace the whole cable, it doesn't look too hard. You can check out the write up here: https://acurazine.com/forums/second-...le-diy-880996/

you can have your local mechanic shop re-crimped the old cable with new connector.

I had the same issue. I had to replace the battery and the terminal was corroded so bad that it broke off while trying to remove it. I just bought a connector from Advance auto parts that had bolts to tighten the cable instead of getting it crimped so i was able to do it on my own. The condition of the cable where the connector was OK but not in the best of shape. Not sure what yours look like but i will eventually change the whole cable.

I had the same issue as well like a year ago. What caused even more corrosion were those LED DRLs I put in which used a harness that connected to my cable. I had a new one installed.

Don't follow steps after

"With the battery tray bracket removed, you can get to the starter."

I need to do this and will be attempting to replace the positive battery cable on my 06 which is so badly corroded it almost cracked in half when I went to loosen the bolt. Tie wraps are the only thing holding it down right now and my idle is a little wonky due to the horrible connection and tiewrap hold down method currently in place. Anyone have a DIY on the 2006 battery cable replacement?
