Whats up everybody. I've been on this forum for a few years and I haven't contributed any DIY's, so I figured it was time to show you guys what I can do. I have a couple DIY's and mod page I'm going to do for you guys. I hope this helps you guys out and it gets added to the DIY stickies so you can find it easily. Enjoy!

Alright so my original positive battery cable had corroded so badly, that it broke off from where it connects to the battery. I got the OEM positive battery cable from a friend at a local dealer. Figured I would take pics and make a DIY while I'm doing it.

First things first, remove battery.


Next, follow the positive cable from battery down to starter, and back around to the under hood fuse box located in the passenger side corner. When you follow it down to the starter, you will come across a couple of green clips holding the wire down to a piece of metal. They're just clips, lift the unlock and pull them off the metal they are clipped to. Don't try to take them off the cable because the new cable comes with all plastic clips and those green clips.

You have to remove the cable from the starter. It's a 10 or 12 mm if I remember.

Now time to remove all the plastic clips along the frame to the fuse box (YES, I did break every single one.):

Lastly, remove the cable from the under hood fuse box (it's the left one):

Now pull the cable out, it gets a little bit tricky over by the intake box, but not a problem.
Here's the old cable out and the new cable in:

On the starter and green clips back in their places:

And finally, back to the battery:


Notes: In the end, the cable connector for the battery installed a little twisted, but you just work it around and you can get it turned up the correct way. Took me about an hour just because it was a little tedious with the clips and removing/installing the cable itself. I know my pics weren't the best, but my hands were greasy and I was on a tight schedule, and it was my iPhone, so I did the best I could for you guys with what I had. I hope this helped you guys out. Thank you emaka9 for the diy! Yesterday, I replaced the positive battery cable. Now, the car starts right up in the 1st try. The old terminal was replaced because of corrosion. Lately cable leading to the terminal was fully corroded (totally blue). The diy took me about 2.5 hours because I don't have any experience working on the car. Just took patience taking out the plastic clips. The 1st green plastic clip from the starter was the hardest to take it out. Thank you again!

It's only a few bolts, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm. Disconnect the neg post. Remove the old cable from 3 points batt, fuse box and starter. Reverse process to install the new one. Done

 

Yeah I didn’t realize it’s all right there! I thought the starter was on the bottom. Damn dealer wanted $500 😂 for an hour job and $75 part

Just changed this cable and it was super easy. Hardest part was getting the clips on. I can’t believe dealer was going to charge me $500!!! Assholes…
