Replacing Exhaust System Flex Pipe

Is it different for automatic versus manual transmission? A local shop replaced it and I have a noise louder than before when accelerating. I took it back and they said its not leaking. I suspect their supplier sent them the automatic one and they tried to do a make-shift install. Is the flow rate different? Should I push them to get the correct pipe?

the J-pipe for 6spd is different than 5AT, but if it's a cheap replacement flex pipe it'll sound terrible just like with the cheap ebay j-pipes.

Look on the receipt they gave you, maybe it will indicate what brand 'flexpipe' or part # they installed.

No brand name on the receipt. Took it to Paul's, he said they not only installed a piece of junk, but it's the wrong pipe to boot! Fortunately, he had a used OEM pipe he took off someone's car for whom he installed a high-performance exhaust system.

Needless to say, I'll be going back to that Mavis Tire place today to make 'em an offer they won't refuse!

Stay tuned.

Nice!
In addition, when you have your throw out bearing replaced, make sure to quiz Paul on details as to why the OEM is superior over the LUK repset supplied one.

It would be nice to know what manufacturer each is made by and what bearing is used (NSK,SKF et al)?

Since LUK makes the OEM Acura/Honda clutch, PP, and flywheel, why would the throw out bearing not be made by them as well?

From what I can see online, there are no clear 'markings' on the throw out bearing that indicate its origin, so that would be interesting to know?

I ain't spending the money to replace the throw out bearing unless I absolutely have to since that means replacing the clutch and flywheel.

After sitting in and playing with the electronics (not to mention the audio quality of 17 speakiz) in a 2021 TLX today, I'm only doing necessary repairs from here on until next year's debut of the Type-S

LMK about your current TL when you upgrade! I'd gladly take it off your hands

Not worth it. I've heard even his exhaust is leaking.
