Removing a Scratch on Door Trim

I have a scratch on the black trim around the door windows and was wondering if there was a suggested way on removing it?

It's not quite a paint scratch so I'm not sure what to do. When dry, the scratch looks white so it's annoying.

I'd post this up in the Wash and Wax section. They entertain these types of questions all the time. May even find an answer in another thread.

Can you catch your fingernail in the scratch?

Seeing its not on paint I'd still try something like ScratchX and rub with the scratch not across it ... it might take a while . The white your seeing is prolly more scuffing than primer/paint exposure.

Don't go nutz tho .. do a little then check your work. Be patient.

It looks like you might have gone right through the finish on the spot ... I'd suggest dropping in to a Paintless Dent repair place and see what they can suggest.

Not being a painted surface I don't know what to suggest.

Before you get too carried away know that that's about a $25 part to replace.

Check out:
http://www.acuraoemparts.com/delray/...All&vinsrch=no

If that's the left rear door in the pic then I think it's number 12, 72970-SEP-A01ZA GARNISH, L. RR. DOOR SASH $25.54 in the link provided (at least for an 05 TL). I'm not sure exactly how to replace but I can't imagine it's all that hard. I can look it up for you and so can many other members here.

I just wanted you to know that in case you go get a paint, or other repair, quote that is for much more than that. I can't imagine anything being cheaper than just buying the part and replacing it.

Well... I looked it up and it's only 3 screws that are very easy to get at. BUT, the manual says to also remove the door glass outer weather stripping. Problem is it also says you need to replace the door glass outer weather stripping after you remove it since it will bend during removal. If true, that's another $42. And to remove the door glass outer weather stripping they say to remove the door inner panel. Get the picture, this is actually starting to be some work. The three screws holding on the sash are really easy to get at but I think the whole piece is held captive if you don't take off the lower molding/weather strip. Maybe someone else has done this and can comment if you can bend the sash enough to get it out without damaging it.

either you replace or repaint it but if you decide to repaint make sure you get a very thin paint brush so you can fill it in so it looks clean. also get the right color.

I have the same thing but on my front driverside door. Do I need part number 3 or part number 6? I can't really tell the difference in that pic it looks like the same part.

but i want to wrap my outer sashs in 3M CF wrap, do you really need to replace the outer weather striping? or is there a way to get it off without actually removing the weather striping?
