Removing dealer decal

Have any of you had a dealer decal posted on the rear-facing end of your trunk lid that you successfully got rid of? What's the best way to do so without harming the finish?

Thanks!

Just heat it up a lil & peal it off slowly. Normally a hair dryer works good enuff for this. Not as hot as a heat gun so less likely you'll damage anything.

I used a plastic razor blade, took 2 minutes... a little heat will definitely help.

I just pulled mine off without heat or anything. That should work just fine. The hard part was getting off the residue left from the info sheet that they stuck onto the rear side window. Since the car has tint I couldn't use a razor blade, just had to keep spraying it with Windex and rubbing the ish out of it with a towel.

I have had luck with peeling some off easily. Others I have had to use a heat gun and slowly piece by piece remove them. I always polish the paint after removing the stickers too.

I never leave any "free" advertisement on our cars.

I read somewhere that pouring boiling water over it for heat would work too

is it a vinyl stick on type or like a badge? you can heat the vinyl stick on types and peel off. the badges, you need to heat it and then use dental floss or fishing line in a sawing motion to get the badge off.

Too late for you now but a condition of every car I purchase is that no stickers whatsoever may be attached or the purchase is off an I walk. I let them put license plate frames if they must since they can be tossed easily later. I remember the "dark days" when some dealers would actually drill holes for their asinine badges.

FWIW I'd avoid the boiling water. To much thermal shock. The other heating modes should be more gradual.

Exactly! Why should I leave on that stupid dealer sticker unless they're giving me a discount on services. The dealer pissed me off anyway so I'm not leaving that crap on my car!

I second the hair dryer and peeling by hand. Boiling water sounds like a good way to hurt yourself/melt your bumper.

haha we must have used the same dealer or something. What a calamity. Had them throw in the 105 as part of the deal, but they only wrote it up as timing belt/water pump. They said bring it back in at 105 and they'd do it, which would be over a year from now. So as I'm looking at the "We Owe" the issue date is circled...hmmm that seems significant. I look at the fine print and it said only good for 30 days. Yeah nice try jack-balls. I go back to get them to write it up for the 105, and the sales manager gives me an attitude saying he wasn't doing the 105, just the belt and pump. Email to the GM time. Yep, we got the 105, and I gave sales-boy an s-eating grin as I picked up the car. Needless to say, I'm taking the dealer sticker to the range and putting a 45 hole in that POS. Wish I could have hit him with a giant sneaker and said "Homey don't play dat"
