RE: Having issues with seat memory function
Has anyone encountered the problem where sometimes you unlock the doors and enter the car and you hear the 2 beeps and a slight movement from the seat motors? I drive the car 100% of the time and don't re-adjust the seat while I'm driving so it should be in the same position when I exit. Do you think it's a seat position sensor going bad or is there an issue with mechanical play that fools the sensor into thinking that there was a position change? I'd like to get this fixed.
yeah that would only happen to me if i would move my seat out of its memory position
found this in the 3G garage, but don't think its exactly your issue:

I have had the occasional beep when opening the door even when I don't think I've moved any of the controls. I've also had the issues described in the bulletin for a quite some time, but it is extremely rare when it happens, and taking it in doesn't do anything because they tell me they can't reproduce the problem. So I've learned to just live with it.
RE: Seat Memory issue
I have had the occasional beep when opening the door even when I don't think I've moved any of the controls. Basically it sounds like your system suffers from what I am seeing only mine is happening more often.
It's an intermittent condition. I don't re-adjust the controls accidentally and I don't change remotes. It could be a seat position sensor that is dirty or it's a mechanical alignment issue (meaning there is enough mechanical play to make the system feel that the seat has moved) such that the system engages to return the seat to the stored position.
I believe the service bulletin basically states that the system does not remember the stored setting and therefore when you press button 1 or 2, nothing happens.
Anyhow, it's not a major issue yet. But I will take a close look and find those sensors. It could be as simple as a loose screw or bolt somewhere. I do recall that one day I went under to vacuum and I used compressed air to clean out the rail a little bit because I had a coin fall and get stuck down there. I was pretty careful not to be too forceful with the air to prevent blowing out the grease that lubricates the track.
What I will try right now is open the door this morning and then store my position again and see if that alleviates the issue. I don't believe the seat module is storing bad data so I'm more inclined to pinpoint the mechanical and the sensor issue.
On a side note, I had one issue on the front passenger seat. If I would adjust the seat, I would hear a metal pinging noise. That turned out to be a loose nut connecting the cylindrical bar that I believe is responsible for movement of the system of both tracks to be "in-sync" with each other.
Any ideas or news from others about this issue would be appreciated.
I've noticed mine lose the memory even without touching the buttons on the side at all. In fact this morning as I was driving the light was off then I set it again but my seat wasn't moved at all. Will that serivce bulletin apply to my car it's an 08 TL-S, the top of that page only says for the '04-'06 models.
