Rasp coming from engine bay??

Hi everyone, not long ago i bought v2 PCD and an xlr8 v1 j pipe. For some reason when i give the car a decent amount of gas, i hear rasp sort of like a leak coming from the pcd j pipe area. I took it to a shop today and they said there is no leak, and that it is probably resonance from thin piping. There is no rasp out of exhaust pipes, only near j pipe and pcd.

Does anyone have this problem? Could it be a leak still possibly? Ive spent a lot on this exhaust and id be upset if this is what im going to deal with.

to rectify the "rasp"

you'll need to upgrade your stock exhaust to a catback with resonators.

or you can add resonators to your stock exhaust.

Thanks for your response. The thing is, i have a double resonated exhaust (none stock) and it sounds great, the problem is, the rasp i am hearing is coming from underneath my feet. BTW i bought my pcd and j pipe used,,,

what exhaust?
and yes, thats where we hear the rasp...from the engine bay.
however; if you add another resonator, it will go away.

or sell the PCDs.

to gain power you need to compromise.
whats more important to you?
power or sound?

if its sound, remove PCDs and sell them.

Not a specific exhaust, I first had stage 3 and once i got pcd a jpipe i added a second larger resonator in place of third cat. And rasp still sounded like shit. I removed entire stock exhaust and had muffler shop weld all new piping and threw the larger resonator back on along with two mufflers/resonators (cheap brand; but not the problem) and rasp is still there when giving it lots of gas, but atleast doesnt do the horrid 2.5k rasp.

I just dont really understand how adding another resonator will make the rasp go away when its coming from before the start of the exhaust?

I believe it is the flex pipe on the j pipe, so i am going to have it cut out and replaced with pipe.

The flex serves a purpose, I wouldn't have it replaced with a pipe.

The flex allows the piping to sway with the engine when it rocks. Excessive engine rocking even with the flex pipes in place can cause the welds on the PCDs to break. The weld that holds the elbow piece on my PCD broke. I could see this more frequently occurring if there is no give at all in the jpipe.

Hmm very true, ive seen how much my exhaust shifts underneath when being reved. I see there are xlr8 motor mounts for $300, do you think this will really hold the motor down much tighter, last thing i want is pre cats breaking.

Or just try and get a whole new J pipe
my shop welds cheap
